What are generally considered the best performing 3-5’ crankbaits for $10 or less?
If you want rattles get the LC 1.5 DRS. Speaking of LC 1.5's I see TW is selling some custom painted by TK Stanley. I traded him some pre Rap warts in exchange for some of his 1.5's a while back. The guy is a heck of a painter.

My wife wants to downsize and build another house. If it happens I'm going to put in the generac propane. I feel like it's peace of mind if nothing else .

I'm not sure why but I seldom see Rapala baits in the tackle shops around here outside of Bass pro of course. I think it's more of a northern thing. Anyway, I throw the Lucky crafts mostly, the 1.5 and the big daddy strike. I agree on the Bill Lewis ATV. Also if you like balsa the black label is worth a try.

Anyone use only one brand of soft plastics?
No, not anymore. There was a time when all we had Mann's and Fliptail. Then Gene Larew , who had a little motel and guided on Table Rock just across from where I am at now , invented a way to put salt in worms and it got copied. Now, Everybody is a bait pourer.

A love letter to mono
I've been doing this for 50 years for fun and money. There's no way I'm going to use 90,000 yds of line in my life time much less within a year, I change it maybe once a year and Tatsu every two years or so because of the cost and it lasts well.If it gets roughed up just turn it around. Who ever gave you those figures needs to get off the pipe.

Where to find info on 1994 Champion 186
I had a 186 back in the day. Mine was a '02. With a 175 that thing ran good,

hot shoe gas pedal;?
The advantage to the hot foot along with blinker trim is that it allows you to keep both hands on the wheel. I think it is safer especially in a faster boat. Absolutely use the the kill switch.

A love letter to mono
Well. first everyone of them would have to fish somewhere where a Bass of that size is possible.

Rod for magnum sized soft plastics (that are sometimes weightless)
Personally , I've never have thrown a fluke that big. I would just throw a mag draft . Maybe things are different where you fish but I fish the standard size fluke weightless post spawn just like the ol' floatin' worm.

For me, A weightless fluke rod and a 10 inch worm rod are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. You could fish the flukes on whatever jerkbait rod you have and the rest on a MH/H.

Saint croix 7'1 MHXF
I've had it in the Legend Tournament variation and I agree with Fish Tank. They are stiff and quick. Great draggin' rod but there are better choices for moving baits. As far as versatility it's not in the same zip code as a 843. The Loomis is much more moderate and weaker in power. If your looking for a Tatula for jigs and moving baits check out the Ehler all purpose. I have the AGS version but it's a great rod in either.

I put mine in a LIV bag.

A love letter to mono
I've heard of folks putting the filler spool in the sink as they spool the reel. I personally don't think that mono has as much memory as flouro especially on a spinning reel. A dose of reel snot would help but of course the ol' braid to leader eliminates memory on a spinning reel completely.

Thicker hoody for a little more warmth and light wind protection?
You can't do any better than the AFTCO reaper.

A love letter to mono
The age old debate. You should use whatever makes you happy. I have 16 rods in the boat now and none with mono but that's me. For topwater I can't see a reason not to use braid, there's just no downside, everything else gets flouro.

crankbait specific rods alternative
Why would it have to be a 2 piece rod ?

Shimano/Loomis GLX Rods
The 843/844 are some of the best that GLoomis, Now Loomis /Shimano has ever made. I love The MBR actions. Just a great all purpose rod. If you like a more moderate action like Falcon you should like the MBR. If you like a quicker action the JWR would be the way to go.

cast away
I have never fished one. They seem popular in and around Texas which would make sense. I believe he uses NFC blanks or at least did.

cast away
I believe Billy Kistler was part of castaway after all star was bought out. Like all star and Lews they are a older company with new ownership. He owns Pride rods now .

crankbait specific rods alternative
That's a good choice. I like glass. Of course I remember when we used glass for jig and worms. I've been using The AA Rebound for a while now and it's great.

What’s the best flourocarbon that’s not super expensive?
I use sunline assassin in the 25lb. on my glide bait and A-rig rods. It's reasonable and handles well.

crankbait specific rods alternative
I think so but it depends on the particular rod. I have a old Razr 7ft medium power rod that is my favorite wiggle wart /RK crawler rod. I'm sure it was intended for a top water rod or stick bait rod but for me the action is perfect. When my boat got hit by the Tornado last July I was more worried about that rod than any NRX.

Looking for a jig
A compact jig by definition should have the trailer shortened. Going back to the old Eakins jigs I pull 3 rings off of a speed craw.
