For shallow-medium cranking (3-5’ rivers) do I want a 6 or a 7 speed reel?
Because in cold water they just aren't as active. IMHO about 53 degrees is where they will start to chase a wiggle wart. I like 55 and up. Mike McClelland designed the RC to be a deeper version of the wart. Spro has several versions of it now including the 50 size. Back in the day we used to throw the wart on 6lb line on a bait caster in a effort to get it deeper.

The most important thing when fishing a Rk Crawler or wiggle wart is to get it down in the rocks or bottom and bouncing around and digging. They don't pull like a 6xd or dd22 but it's just a different technique than a squarebill. I can tell you that they guy who designed the Rk crawler lives on Table Rock and he fishes it on a 5:1 in the winter and 6:1 as the water warms up.

Weighted Fluke?
I've stuck a 1 inch finish nail in them to get them to sink slowly in post spawn. But , some folks throw them on a Carolina rig so anything is possible

I use 6:1 this time of year for sure. The water is cold and the fish are slow. If you have the discipline to slow down a faster reel that's fine. I personally don't.

XPS vs Vanish
I would stick with Invisx or Sniper and I like Tatsu the best. I can easily fill 2 reels with the 165 yd spool and backing. When it starts getting nicked up I tie it to a fence post and walk it out to the backing knot cut it and find a handy kid or Wife to hold that end and tie the fence end to backing and wind it back up. Like new.. I can get a year out of it. I never use any sort of conditioner or spray.

Newbie to jerkbaits, looking for recommendations that arent Megabass
The Spro McStick. I throw them as much or more than the Vision anymore. They see a million Visions maybe not as many McSticks but they are no secret anymore . The blue bandit color looks a little strange in the package but it's great in the water as is the Norman flake.

SC Victory 72MHM Casting Rod?
I owned that rod. It's a crankbait rod and a good one. 1.5 squarebills, RK Crawlers, wiggle warts even a deep little N. I personally wouldn't throw a spinnerbait on it.

What size Gamakatsu G Finesse Hooks are the exact replacement for the Vision 110 Jr. + 1?
I doubt there's any hook that you could put on a 11O that I couldn't bend with a pair of pliers. I buy the Katsuage in bulk locally but TW has them in stock usually. Don't fix what isn't broke.

The Kasuage hooks are outstanding. If you think that they're garbage you have been watching too many you tube pro's.

Bandit baits
Yes. I don't know if the current ones are as good as the older pre pradco built ones but they work. The 200 with a black crappie crank wrap has been good to me.

Were jigs always this expensive?
100%. You will never get back to the barn with as many as you left with around here. I bought some Beast Coast jigs that have no weed guard. My thinking is , Table Rock eats every kind of jig I've thrown in 40 years with a weed guard so may as well have a better hook up ratio, we will see, There was a guy who lived in Cassville that made a jig with a unique head design. I can't recall the name but I believe he passed away. Anyway , I hung it up on the first cast, but overall they did work.

Miravel and Ultegra
I have both. For that small difference in price I'd go with the Ultegra but they are both perfectly capable.

Upgrading from Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2
I remember seeing an interview with Matt Robertson talking about electronics on Kentucky Lake. He also talked about the DI on the gen 2 be special and that he thought it was particular to the 8 inch screen which happens to be the one I use. Maybe we are both wrong but I'm keeping mine until it quits.

Can I pair a 100-150 sized casting reel with a 7-7’2” rod for cranking or does it need to be shorter?
I think you have been given some sound advice. I would suggest you take it. Crank bait rods don't need to be this complicated. Pick out one in the weight range you need and pick a length that suits you and go fishing.

Exactly what baits are you wanting to throw ?

When you say Mega it sounds like you are talking about Humminbird ? I was referring to the gen 2 HDS.

Upgrading from Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2
I think those gen 2's have the best down imaging. Maybe it's just mine but i have gen 3's and live also and the 2's fish ID is really good, which is why I've never replaced it.

Dobyns vs Kistler sensitivity
One won't catch anymore fish than the other. I feel like it comes down to what you personally like. If I had to choose the most sensitive of those 2 I'd lean to the Expride.

Shallow Crankbait Suggestions
I don't remember them that far back but its very possible. Casey is a great painter. I do remember talking with and buying baits from him back in the day and I still have some of his old square bills from 2010 or so when it was pretty much a one man deal.

NRX+873CRR vs. 893c
Of those 2.. Probably the 873. You may find the 3 power a little on the light side if your using a 1/4 oz plus a heavier plastic. big worm ect. I'm personally not a huge fan of the 89 inch NRX's but the 893 is one of the best in the series in my opinion. If you can keep the total weight under 1/2 oz.

Dobyns vs Kistler sensitivity
Not at all, I've owned one, I just don't think it's be all, end all that some make it out to be. And , every time I see those 2 on tactical bassin' jump around like a couple of high school cheer leaders every time they pick one up gives me a headache.

dang..I want to hook into a big spotted bass, now.
I've had one I'm sure would have been over 4 . I it was on a shaky head the first week in April 6 or 7 years ago. A gravel flat up by Baxter. My buddy and I took pictures of it and I had planned on getting a replica. But I never have.

Dobyns vs Kistler sensitivity
I would say the Cara and extreme are about a push. I'm in the in the minority when it comes to the Expride.
