  1. My suggestion would be to call or e- mail the leading manufacturer's you speak of and ask them. May as well go straight to the horse's mouth. I wouldn't expect the answer to be anything more profound than it's personal preference though.
  2. I use the longer center wire. Always have for the 10 years or so I've been fishing the thing. Only you can decide what you want to fish.
  3. Back when Kistler used the NFC blanks I would have gone that way. Now, I'm not so sure but probably still lean that way. I've fished both and still have Still have a 704 Extreme. I use it for a slab spoon rod so it's not a technique that requires a load of sensitivity.
  4. If it's tumbling in the air when you cast it your asking for it. I kinda side arm the thing.
  5. 100% The biggest difference is that with the new jig heads like the Queen the bait stays flat when you pause it right over their heads.
  6. We used to throw the Kalins and BPS grubs on darter heads here too. Scrub them around points and gravel flats. I really feel the minnow shaking deal is a different. Of course you can catch them just blind casting but it sure helps to find the shad balls. we found them for a lot of years on 2d. With FFS you can get the distance and depth before your on top of them. That's a big advantage
  7. If your not feeling them with flouro you probably just need more time with it. I've never thought there was a night and day difference between it and braid.
  8. I like the slower side of fast. I fished the NRX 893 ,873 and 894 for a few years and never could warm up to them. I like the Falcon actions or something of that type. For smaller finesse jigs I use the Virtus Finesse jig and I love the Steeze universal light. For heavier footballs I have the ALX toadface And Vitus Titan I guess in a nutshell I prefer more of a moving bait action vs the ultra quick " Jig/worm actions.
  9. Day in and day out I've caught more with a standard size speed craw trailer than all the others combined. The Zoom chunk or Chompers twin tail in really cold water.
  10. The standard fix that I use is 2 suspend dots behind the joint and add a feathered treble on the back. The idea is to get it to squat at rest and keep it from diving on the retrieve. Some never do run right . Some guys heat the bill and bend it down but I've thrown a few in the trash trying that method. Smokey Joe or the chrome are the best colors for me.
  11. Gary Loomis let them use his name for awhile. He may have had a hand in some of the designs who knows. That was between the time he sold to Shimano and started NFC.
  12. No ,nothing that exciting. He's just a.....forgot how to use English. And I would have zero problems telling him that in person. It started with the MFer line of rods , which is a zero class name for something I wouldn't use for a tomato stake. My wife has better taste in men and I would be afraid my dog would catch something. But , I've made my feeling on the subject known enough.
  13. He did help with the 110. If anyone wanted to test a stick bait the Ozarks is the place. That's a pretty old bait now, with newer variants. I don't agree with everything he posts and he gets off on tangents for sure but, he does have respect for the history of the sport and in his day he was a stick. Unlike the other guy who's just a pimp.
  14. I would think it would work fine. The GL3's aren't super fast as I remember , it's shorter than some might like but I personally never got overly concerned about chatterbait rods .
  15. I would stick to the paddle tails.
  16. Really, all they can do is to spin it. I personally wouldn't buy 6th sense bobber stops since he bought into the company.
  17. If I'm not mistaken one of 6th sense staff guys ,who I won't name got into a little tiff with the law that had nothing to do with fishing and they dumped him. It's going to be interesting to see how this gets handled. It isn't a good look.
  18. Yep. He will come up another stupid saying to put on hats and t-shirts and make more money and make 6th sense look more juvenile. They are taking over the Googan market.
  19. Depending on what your willing to spend the Alpha Angler slasher has the right action and handle length. It also makes a nice top water rod when jerkbait bite goes away.
  20. I probably fish the standard 110 more than the plus. It depends on the depth the fish are suspended and the standard is usually a good starting point. If your fishing from the bank (uphill) that's pretty tough to figure out. But I'd would much rather be over them than under them. What depth are you trying to get to ?
  21. The one on Table Rock every year is well run and pays great. The only thing I don't like is that they only have 1 weigh in site and it's at a time when there will be fish on the beds who are going for a 40 mile boat ride.
  22. To me. tournament fishing is just fishing. The only difference is it matters if you lose one. Trust me no one ever said "I'd have cashed a check if I would have had a different reel". Get what feels good to you. Mine are mostly Daiwa and Shimano with a few Lews left from 10 years or so ago. They are all capable of handling a Bass. If the series your fishing offers any incentive program for a particular brand that would influence me.
  23. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Are the barbers in Texas on strike ?
