  1. I'd take a look at the new Fenwicks. The HMG would be in your price range. I have one in each model. World class, Elite, HMG ect.. The more I fish them the more I like them. My World class is every bit as good as NRX+ and Z bone with the Xray and that's not easy for me to say.
  2. I wear a XL in all my hoodies. My reaper is also a XL. I think it runs a litter smaller through the torso than some, but I wouldn't want the sleeves any longer. Great product.
  3. This the time of year for them, for me anyway. I don't use the swivel deal, Instead just a Carolina keeper, bead and weight. 1/2 or 3/4 oz. with a Zoom fish Dr. or centipede. With the Carolina keeper you can adjust the leader length easily but you may need to use 2 with heavier weights. You are fishing the weight not the bait.
  4. I saw you had trouble after you took an SLX apart a year and a half ago. There's a lesson in there somewhere.
  5. No. My favorite crankbait reel is the old Citica 200E with 10lb invisx crankin' FC. I can throw any 3/8oz.1.5, wiggle wart RK crawler etc. just as far as I need to with them and that's at least 12-year-old technology. Changing the reel is not going to magically make you a better caster.
  6. You should be able to throw those baits on any reel you have. It's just not that difficult. If you need a little help, buy a MGL or SV or go to a medium powered CB rod for the 1.5s.
  7. I've been fishing them since the introduction. I believe that was 2012 if memory serves. At that time there was a noticeable difference in sensitivity compared to offerings from others. Now I feel like the gap has narrowed. Still, they deserve to be the standard, but I don't think they equal any more fish in the boat.
  8. I've been using a Edge Delta 705 MBR. What a great all around rod. They list it as a light MH moderate fast but to me, power wise it's between the Loomis 843 and 844. I cant think anything I couldn't use it for up to 5/8 oz. On sale at $150 it's worth every penny.
  9. For a moving bait rod, no it's not worth the upgrade. Dragging rod ? maybe but I personally like the look of the Victory.
  10. I'm not a expert on Bull Shoals . I'm up the road a bit on Table rock. But right now I would be looking on the gravel flats with a tube or finesse style jig. Can't go wrong with green pumpkin with some blue or PBJ in the Ozarks. Once they move off the flats it's usually time for the drop-shot and spoon. Personally, I don't really target them, they are finicky and you will catch a bunch of spots looking for them. If you have your heart set on catching some I would recommend hiring a guide. Del Colvin is one on the best.
  11. Around here it's too early. That's not to say you won't catch some on it. Post spawn generally is the time for the shaky head with a more finesse style worm or creature bait. The big worm deal is July-August in the dog days.
  12. For me, leader length doesn't change depending on what bait I'm using. I start with 12 or 15 feet. That lets me change baits and retie many times before I have to change it.
  13. Megabass will lower their prices immediately. How many baits does Duo send to market per year vs Megabass ? Apples to Oranges.
  14. I use bubblegum a lot in the off-color water. Otherwise, Arkansas shiner or any shad color. I don't think it matters much.
  15. Agreed, the RC 1.5 is the best. Everyone has tried to copy it and I'm sure some of them are really close like the old Excaliber version and the Luck E Strike is great also. I've got a few left. The RC 1.5 DD was kinda the forerunner to the RK Crawler.
  16. It's going to vary from rod to rod. I use a medium power for 1.5's and wiggle warts in the brand I use. If you can't cast the bait and can't feel it load, then that's a good indication that particular rod is too tight for the bait your trying to fish. Adjusting the brakes is part of the deal. It should only take 2 or 3 casts.
  17. It's a fair price. I'd have the motor checked to be sure. There's no way you will duplicate that boat for 50K. True, you can buy a new boat for 50k but what ?A Ranger aluminum, or Vexus maybe a 18ft Nitro be fore you add electronics and an Ultrex. I'd stick with the Champ before I'd do that.
  18. I use it as a Jig rod mostly. Also a C- rig rod and ploppers also the Magdraft. I'm sure it would work but, for me personally I like to pitch spoons in dock stalls around walkways ect. For that I'd rather have the Head Turner. Just a shorter, easier rod to handle in tight spaces and would still have plenty of power for those weights.
  19. Sensitive enough that you won't catch anymore fish on a GLX. They are all perfectly capable. Just depends on which one suits you.
  20. I had the 802 TWR. I used it more for flukes but there's no reason it wouldn't make a good popper rod. I've been using the 24 Fenwick Elite 6ft 8 medium for a few months now, I really like it for sammys, spook jr.s and poppers I threw a stickbait on it also. Versatile rod.
  21. The Cara is the better rod if your looking for a dragging rod. Moving baits, St. Croix always has some great actions. Falcon, like everybody has some standout models. The Amistad , swim jig, head turner and finesse jig are my personal favorites.
  22. Last couple years, the Jewel pee wee. The newer HD version has a better brush guard than the original.
  23. I'm not so sure it wouldn't be worth more. There're a couple guys who still fish them around here. A guy has been after my L&T flippin stick. for a while, I finally gave it to him. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten $50
