  1. 50 years of fishing stickbaits and I never knew there was a reel that would help you catch more fish on that bait... Didn't Ryobi also make reels for Lew Childre ? How long was it after his death was it before Shimano started selling reels based on that design ?
  2. Sounds like time for wakebait or a squarebill also.
  3. I do like it.. Well-made bait and they run true.
  4. Hopefully,,it will die a quick death but I doubt it. Honestly I don't think there all that much money coming from Garmin or Lowrance ect. I'm sure like the boat manufacturers there is incentive money paid out. But that doesn't need to include FFS. BASS ,MLF etc. needs to grow a pair before it's too late.
  5. It will be good for walking baits like a spook, spook jr. Sammy ect. Poppers, pencil baits and so on. I'm sure would be a good jerkbait rod also.
  6. Gotta get up pretty early to fool you. Not picking on Dobyns but I'd be surprised if he has over $ 80 in a Sierra when it hits the store shelf.
  7. I have a couple from Joe Burns He's in Dayton Tennessee.
  8. Randy is right. Maybe not in all cases but if you take away FFS from a lot of these guys, they are down the road.
  9. Great to hear him come out and say what many people are thinking and he has a relationship with Humminbird which makes it even better. Randy isn't all wrong for sure. The tours are becoming just a vehicle for advertisers.
  10. They don't like docks. shore rocks ect. If you fish visions long enough you will break one. We used to have a local guy who could replace the bill and it actually worked but I don't think they fished the same.
  11. I wouldn't use a 2 power Loomis as a All purpose rod. The 843 would be a better choice in my opinion.
  12. The McStick .
  13. The Core tackle Ozark rig works really well on Senko's and creature baits. If you want to fish it weightless 4/0 or 5/0. I personally don't use EWG's .
  14. I've used the Cara head turner for years. It's got a nice tip , not too fast and just a versatile rod in general. I just received a new Fenwick Elite 6ft 8 medium in the reaction bait series .What a sweet 1/4-3/8 spinnerbait rod as well as the mini Max and poppers. For lighter baits, and a bit less expensive than the Cara it's worth considering
  15. I've been a Falcon and Loomis guy for many years but.. The new Fenwicks are outstanding. You didn't mention a budget but the World Class 7ft3 MH ( basically a copy of the Loomis 873) is very impressive. I also have an Elite but it is a 6ft8 medium ,popper ,stickbait, 1/4 oz. spinnerbait rod. It shares the same reel seat as the World Class and I actually like it as well or better than the CI4.
  16. I use a Yamamoto 7ft Medium. I don't think the rod matters much as long as you can throw it.
  17. The BPS egg is good. Honestly you can find the double stamp Baby 1 minus on the auction sites fairly cheap.
  18. I'm a rubber mallet at best but honestly electronics usually tells the story. A wise man once told me that you will find shad without bass but you will never find bass without shad. Watch for them busting bait.
  19. 100%.. Its the Indian not the arrow. No rod. reel or line will make up for poor technique. The guy who was accepted by many as being the best stickbait fisherman on Bull Shoals and Table Rock passed away last year. He used an old 5 1/2 foot pistol grip and mono. I was fortunate enough to talk with him last summer and tried to buy one of his home modified stickbaits. He told me he couldn't make a bait as good as the 110 JR + 1. But he did sell me one. It will probably never get wet now.
  20. I used to fish nothing but Jewell. But the Beast Coast and Greenfish are good.
  21. The Ol' Dixie jet spoon.
  22. The Falcon weightless worm rod is probably the best stickbait rod I've ever fished. The rod they label as a Jerkait rod is ok but the weightless worm has kinda a cult following around here. It's the right length and has the right tip with good power. If not that I would second the St. Croix.
