  1. How long has it been since you were there? theres a concrete boat ramp now and there have been spots opened up to fish on the shore.
  2. Destroy as many pigs as you can. Horribly destructive critter. I dont know if i hate hogs or beavers more.
  3. I have heard that raw shrimp that arent de-veined work pretty well. I cant really say ive ever had issues keeping livers on the hook as long as you hook it through some of the grizzle type stuff that joins the individual pieces.
  4. Are you by chance talking about Hickory log creek resevoir? I saw some old black guys there doin pretty good with crappie tubes and grubs under a bobber. No clue how deep they were but i know they ended up without 30 fish between the two of em.
  5. I hate catching those *&$# fish but i seem to catch em on small jerkbaits and crankbaits. I hate catchin em when im tryin to catch some gills as they dont seem to eat nearly as well, at least not in these warm georgia lakes i fish. Ive caught a few in 80+ degree water and they didnt look like they were doing well at all.
  6. I hook them through the lips and they seem to last forever for me. This past weekend i used the same shad for about 2 hours before he decided to swim into some rocks and get me hung up
  7. Peacocks have been on my bucket list for a while. I need to make a trip down to florida some time and get one some
  8. Been trying to find a good light, thanks for the link. there is an over head light on the roof that shines down on the water and i have noticed some (very small) bait fish gathering under it. I have thrown a cast net before but i cant say im very good. Have to agree on the 3rd hand thing.
  9. That is one awesome looking fish. Looks big enough to be decently high in the food chain so it has a chance to become pretty big. Its a miracle he escaped being a snack as a baby with that coloration
  10. I love my revo s but it seems to have a position where you can push the thumb bar down enough to cast and reel but it never really engages the reel. After that happens i have to push down on the bar pretty hard to get it to go down all the way. Any one else experience this?
  11. Absolutely love my s but it can be tempermental at times. it seems like it has a place where you can push the thumb bar down far enough to cast and reel but it never truely engages the reel. Kind of odd but i still love the reel
  12. All braid unless im cranking. 50# for baitcasting, 10-15# for spinning. IMO you cant beat the added sensitivity and the no stretch of braid. Since i switched to braid (two years ago) ive lost a total of probably 5 hooks/lures and on all of them i just gave up and pulled out the knot. I usually end up taking up my shirt off and wrapping my hand in it and pulling about as hard as i can or walking away with the line. I never use a leader either and dont have issues but most of the water i fish is VERY stained
  13. I just suggested the iphone because i know they make lifeproof cases for them and he was thinking about a go pro so i assumed he wanted water proof. There are phones with better video and picture quality but i dont think any of them come close in ease of use.
  14. Great story but i would think about upgrading phones to the iphone 4 or 4s and getting a life proof. Completely water proof case and the phone takes excellent video and still pictures. IMO better option than getting a go pro to begin with because you wont really forget your phone and the battery life is pretty good. I would say get a go pro after you upgrade phones.
  15. I dont have the heavier version but i do have the super light version and i love them. Theyre not too hot so i can wear them in the summer and they keep me completely dry.
  16. i do this even on a long cast if the fish decided they dont want the long side to side. When i crank the reel it just moves the front of the bait side to side a little bit. Caught quite a few fish doing it
  17. Hit all the likely spots with a senko. And if youre worried about snakes, make sure you have a beating stick and your boots on
  18. Ive never seen em that big jump completely out but i have seen smaller bass do it. Seems pretty regular for smaller bass
  19. Now that i know how to do it, i just need a boat to mount one in
  20. Against dark colored carpet it doesnt get much more contrasted than white. And my favorite rod, the duckett, just happens to be white with some maroon rings so it even matches your hat That being said it is a fantastic rod, very sensitive and pretty light
  21. I just prefer deep fried over anything, but dont listen to me its the south talking. I like everything better deepfried, especially pickles
  22. Dont give raider any ideas
  23. Sorry for your loss man, had to help a friend through the same thing after her father took his own life. Hes in a better place
  24. I know for a fact that guineas will "keep snakes away" (more like slaughter them all) Used to have 10 of em and i never saw a snake. A disclaimer to them though, they are literally the stupidest animal i have ever seen and theyre pretty ugly.
  25. South side! Southern born and raised. I really cant imagine living somewhere that i cant fish year round
