Crappie jigs in 1/8oz or even 1/16 with a simple grub tail work well. Beetle spins and small meps or Silver Fox inline spinners as well. If you don't want to deal with live bait, I like Gulp grubs for panfish and perch. They are every bit as effective as worms and they last 3x as long.
  3. Most if not all R2Sea uses Diachii trebles i believe. They're decent. Not the best but certainly not terrible.
  4. I just don't care for lazy people. There are plenty of them that come in here and just ask questions even though the same topic is flowing 5 threads down on the same visible page. I've come to just not read threads started by some individuals at this point. I can recall towards the end of summer/start of fall there were literally 5 or 6 "Frog" topics on the same page with the exact same questions and answers being supplied. It's easy to tell the difference between someone genuinely seeking help vs a lazy person just wanting an immediate answer because they're not willing to read. And not just read the forum, but all the articles here too. There is LOADS of info here, just take time to read. When that doesn't supply your answer, then come and ask. There is also a difference in a question/answer topic vs a discussion topic. Discussion topics are far more interesting to read, I think we can all agree to that.
  5. Dobyns 705cb Glass (on its way) and a Chronarch Ci4. That's the plan any how.
  6. I won't use the Dobs glass for anything but squarebills only. For my jerkbait and topwater I'm using a 6'8 M/xf Mojo which has worked out great for me so far. I agree with Dwight on the Avid for multi use. If I looked into a graphite Dobs I'd probably go with the 704c. I'm getting glass to be more forgiving on my hooksets. I have another glass rod and I can keep fish buttoned up really well with it. Even with crappy stock hooks on a crank.
  7. I have a Dobs 705cb glass on the way. Wont be using it until spring. I got it specifically for square bills. Ill be happy to report back after I can actually use it.
  8. Congrats!
  9. Have you indulged Jeff? If so thoughts?
  10. I did say look, lol. According to that article $750 a pop around here. Way too rich for my pockets. One day when I hit that jackpot!
  11. I just started reading about this from this post. Pretty crazy about the big theft they had this year. Ill snoop around some spots by me and see if there are any in the cages.
  12. Makers or Knob with a splash of 7up.
  13. That had to be a lot of fun! Good fish man!
  14. Dwight Disciples. Lol that's awesome. T-shirt worthy for sure!
  15. We got close to 6" today. Better now than in March!
  16. Mine came in today. Nice solid reel, little on the heavy side but I don't mind that so much. It definitely needs a strip down and cleaning. I can see oil and grease all over it. That'll give me something to do during winter with the rest of the gear.
  17. Big Ol' Pig! as Shaw would say. Way to go!
  18. You'll get blow ups on it no doubt. Start chuckin it! Pretty soon you'll have more 4" plus baits then you'll know what to do with.
  19. I don't know Dwight. I think some of your smallies might weight close. My guys are peanuts. They have some jailbird stripes on their pants, does that count?

Should you like the swim jig more and want to get a more appropriate or dedicated set up, I'd recommend a MH/F rod of your choice. The reel you have is fine or something similar. The 3/8oz swim jig from Siebert is killer and he offers some great bluegill colors which is your primary forage up by you.

Your set up will work fine. My line preference is braid so I'd throw it with 30# braid of your liking. If not braid, then a good fluoro around 15# rating. Swim the jig through everythign and anything. It will catch fish every where. Vary your retrieve and speed. Best way to learn something is to just go and do it. My way might not be your way and vice versa.
  22. Thanks man. I think 00 might have a spare for me. Appreciate the response.
