Tragic: Kayak Fisherman Killed -- Shark Attack
Very sad for his loss. It is tragic as is every sudden death. That said.....don't swim or paddle in waters that you can be made into dinner especially in a craft that is easily overpowered. Period. There are no laws in nature and it does what it wants. I don't mean any disrespect to the man but it was only a matter of time if that is a regular habit of the angler. You couldn't pay me enough to sit in a kayak in shark waters, sorry. Call me what you want, but I enjoy life and more importantly my family and loved ones.

Big ?
Dwight, being that you have caught multiple 6lb smallies and 10lb largemouth bass, which class gave the bigger fight? I'm assuming the smallmouth did purely out of speculation and knowing the difference in the pee wee's of each species I catch. I had a guy from Texas disagree that a 10lb LMB would put a smallie to shame, and I just can't believe it myself. He also has never hooked a smalljaw before....

Gloves???outwear???
I use those too. I wear them all the time, especially during that cold drive into work in the morning. For $5 a crack they're a steal I think.

Owner St36 Or St41
CN- What was the outcome of this? I ordered in some KVD Trebles too and didn't review mine to see if I had the same issue. I got some round bends and EWG's but not in every size of each style. Mine were purchased at Tackle Warehouse during the Veterans day sales.

Favorite Bluegill Imitator?
Topic is "Best Bluegill Imitator" not "Most Productive Bluegill Imitator". I, and I think many of you, were initially thinking of what lure appears to be the best bluegill replica. That was my initial thoughts anyway. My second choice would be LiveTargets cranks. I also really like the Bettencourt Dying bluegill. Got mine from Speedbead and it is a FUN little bait to fish with. I actually find myself messing with the action and watching it more than I actually fish it. I agree 100% with Slonezp and the others that a bluegill colored swimjig is going to probably produce more numbers in a day. A swim jig is so versatile and is also a top producer for me every season. Being that I'm in the midwest, it's almost always some sort of bluegill or sunfish color swim jig tied on. Both the swim jig and Mattlures gills will catch quality and quantity presented in the right situations. I am glad to have some of each in my arsenal.

Did I Get The Wrong Rod! Dobyns 735
Anyone using a glass rod from Dobyns? I was considering 705cbmf glass for square bills. I'm not opposed to graphite though. I tend to have a hard hookset so glass is in my favor. I use glass for deeper cranking. You can pm me, I don't want to jack this thread but its collected the Dobyns fan base.

11 croix and one Dobyns. Dobyns has never seen water yet so could be a game changer. Refraining from buying the 705cbmf Glass rod right now. Its not a need but just a want, especially at % 25 off.

Why not name them? Someone might discover a new great bait. Live Target bluegill cranks are one of the most realistic ones on the market.

St Croix Mojo is on sale for $75 on bass tackle depot right now. Awesome deal.

Baitcast Backing??
Well mono backing with braid prevents line slipping on the spool as well. Some guys just tape it down on the spool.
-
Baitcast Backing??
Yes there is a point. You will never reach that last half or 1/3 of the spool so you're better off only using what you need. Saves yourself some cash and you can fill more reels with less spools of line. John is right. You're better off always having a full spool to maximize casting distance.

Hank Parker Setup
Sorry I'd thought it was a bc combo.

Hank Parker Setup
Being that its a 5.1.1 gear ratio, deep cranks or slow rolling big spinner baits would probably be ideal.
