  1. White for sunny (light) black for cloudy (dark) days.... My favorite frog is "flipin the bird"
  2. Sounds sweeet
  3. Whether the angler is trying to imitate a certain baitfish or not, the fish still looks at the lure as if it is some type of forage or something that is really irritating them. I'm just trying to answer his question, what were lures designed to do? - Catch fish, how will we get a fish to have a go at something artificial? Make it look like what a bass eats... Of course lures have evolved tremendously, now we have a number of ways to catch fish, some are designed specifically to match baitfish and some just flat out catch fish. Even if you don't believe in "matching the hatch" it doesn't hurt to do so, even if your not matching a specific type of forage and the fish eats it, that fish may have thought he was eating a craw when you were trying to imitate a perch.
  4. For me Baitfish: bluegill, yellow perch, golden shiners, shiners... Other: Craws, newts, frogs, mice... And of course the bird In my opinion the most important to imitate (for me in my area atleast), is a craw, or a bluegill... You can do so with crankbaits, texas rigs, swim jigs, jigs, etc. You can imitate the craw with even more ways than the bluegill or perch with a carolina rig or jika rig. Your right, forage is going to be more abundant at certain times and the bass are going to be targeting certain things more than others at times. This calls for different techniques and knowing where the forage will be. For example, imitating a bluegill or a craw prespawn will be different than postspawn or even spawn. Speed, size, location, and movement will be different... If I were you I'd get a solid hold on imitating craws, and for a baitfish bluegill/perch, as I said above, you can imitate them similarly in many situations...
  5. Even if you are aren't trying to get better, your knowledge grows every time your on the water... Whether you catch 500 fish or 0...
  6. I have fished 43 and 54, the two in my New Hampshire...
  7. I got a 7'6" MH Med Fast Shimano clarus crankbait rod... I don't think it will be that bad, It is heavier than my other rods but thats just because of the rod itself...
  8. If I had to choose one setup to fish with it would be a 7' MH Fast with a 6.3:1 or 7.1:1 reel...
  9. I think I'm going to try it this upcoming year with a 6'6" MH Compre, paired with a President and 8# Yozuri Hybrid line... The hook size and weight you mentioned is also good, as far as baits what are your favorites? I was planning on trying finesse worms, and craws...
  10. Here's my new thought, I get a swimbait specific bass rod maybe an iRod Genesis II, and get a reel that can be used in fresh and salt water. This way I can use the setup for stripers and bass... Just because I don't see myself throwing a swimbait all day everyday.
  11. 6lbs 5oz LM, 3 lbs 8oz SM
  12. I agree with with Roadwarrior about the hybrid line for the smaller setup, it is terrific! As far as the the other setup goes if your frogging or fishing any topwater I would keep straight braid but if you would prefer leader I would go with 15# Seaguar Senshi mono. I have two presidents myself and haven't had any problems with them at all, as a matter of fact I caught my PB on that reel. 8# Yozuri Hybrid line, texas rigged rage craw...
  13. Got a Spro BBZ-1 8" slow sink swimbait, It's my first big swimbait I plan on trying for bass. I don't really have a bass rod to throw a 4.8oz lure with, should I throw it on one of my lighter striper rods even though its spinning? I don't think any 7' or 7'6 MH bass rod will hold up very well with a 5oz lure, what do you guys think, should I experiment with the bait on a striper setup or on one of my bass rods, before investing $300ish dollars in a swimbait setup...
  14. Favorite and most memorable freshwater day, a friend and I decided to hit the water for ONE hour after work... That ONE hour produced a 4 fish bag of 18lbs 3oz(I think), we had my PB 6lbs 5oz, my 4lbs 14oz, my friend's 4lbs 12oz, and my stout 2lbs 9oz.... Favorite salwater day, Cape Cod Canal, fall day and they were running strong through the canal! We caught 27 in a couple of hours lots of nice sized stripers!
  15. My favorite things that Santa ended up bringing me were the 7'6" Clarus Crankbait rod, Orra Winch (to go on the Clarus), and a T3 Ballistic... It really sucks that I have to look at my new stuff for a couple more months! At least I get a little break in February when I go to Florida, hopefully I can get more bass fishing accomplished this year...
  16. It is killing me!!! After getting all my new stuff for Christmas I have to wait a few months to use it... All I can do is look at it... LOL
  17. Merry Christmas to you southern guys! Where the lakes AREN'T FROZEN!!!
  18. New PBs LM and SM, but my proudest achievement this year... http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/sports/highschoolsports/1018862-457/milford-junior-helps-launch-nhiaa-bass-fishing.html
