  1. My KastKing Assassin made it through a third year . Its my frog reel and it doesnt get a lot of use but performing well .
  2. When fishing from bank sometimes I only take the lure tied on my rod . When I do carry extras ,they are of the size that can be cast easily with my combo. Its not smart to take along lures that are difficult to cast .
  3. I'm still fishing the same places . Shallow grass with spinnerbaits , buzzbaits maybe toads . Brush with spinnerbaits , buzzbaits , worms . The thermocline is falling so I'll worm , crankbait and hop a Red Eye Shad in deeper water . Toss squarebill around standing timber . All the same lures I use the rest of the year .
  4. Thats another I eat . They were plentiful this year. I love my Mora . There were some larger ones up higher , Had to improvise .
  5. I eat a half dozen or so wild mushrooms . Today I came upon a jack pot . Way more than I can use .Mushrooms all over Super fresh Oysters . I'm frying some for supper tonight .
  6. Uhtred , son of Uhtred would be impressed .
  7. I am the king of 2 pounders .
  8. My dad use to catch smallmouths in a river like that . He didnt know it was a top water lure .
  9. No turnover here yet but the thermocline is sinking .
  10. There is this levee protected oxbow lake off the Mississippi river that has stumped me forever . I have friends who have caught monsters there and 4 lbs is the largest I caught . I gave up on it . Havent visited it for at least ten years . Maybe I'll give it another shot some day .
  11. While viewing the wake bait thread , I was reminded on how I caught my largest spotted bass . I was at a clear Ozark lake fishing a vintage Rebel popper , about twice the mass of a Pop R ,around standing timber with no luck . Some how I realized that at the right steady speed , the lure would push a big bulge out in front and have a shimmy to it . I played around with it and caught a spot in the 4 lb class . So what ways have you caught bass using lures in a way they were not intended ?
  12. Yeah , I dont want to be the guinea pig .

A cannister of night crawlers in the cooler means one or two less beers .

I tried Carolina rigging crawlers and shad just inching them along slowly . Only thing I caught were channel cats .
  15. I dont want to purchase two pair of glasses . The new transition polarized , dont polarize indoors but do when outside . I would like to know how they work for fishing and not have to wear clip ons .
  16. Have any of you prescription wearers tried them ? If so , how do you like them ? I cannot find a review from an angler on the interwebs .
  17. I took a hacksaw to the handle of a 7 foot rod to make it about 6'9". I bought the rod on clearance , nice rod but wanted a shorter handle . Afterwards it was tip heavy so I put a chair leg rubber cap on the end with a couple of nickles inside to balance it out nicely .
  18. One of the biggest bass I have caught was when I was ripping a Long A Minnow through a bunch of surface feeding carp , trying to snag into one .
  19. I use compact spinnerbaits for deep fishing , longer wired baits for shallow . The Strike King Rocket Shad is a good deep water bait , I just dont like the double hooks . So I pour my own .
  20. When I was a kid fishing on the Mississippi river , the barge wakes against the riprap dislodged things game fish like to eat . I caught bass , walleye , and white bass immediately after barges pass .
  21. A light rain I'll usually try a buzzbait followed by a spinnerbait .I think it big fish weather .
  22. I keep a box of beetle spins but not a rod and reel anymore . I use to have a panel van with rod racks installed and I always had rod reels and lures . Those were the days when i caught big bass often . I had a couple of milk runs that I traveled several times a week , fishing in culverts on gravel roads . I live close to the Mississippi river and those ditches and back waters harbor big fish .
  23. I'm a morning person . I rarely fish til dark . I do fish early mornings .a lot . They are both good .
  24. I never skipped school . Unless I was truly sick I went every day . Perfect attendance were the only awards I ever earned .
