Buzz bait issues
If your not already doing it , cast sidearm . That way you wont have a big bow of line to try to catch up too . As far as running sideways , thats just their nature . Try using it to your advantage by running it into stuff .

Buzz bait issues
I use to throw buzzers on 4.6 to 1 . I use a 6 to 1 now and have zero problem with it .

I like this . One sonar in back and one in front . Choose wisely . 150 Max HP . More people could afford to participate . It is becoming an Elitist sport .

What do you do to show them 'something different?'
Early in the year I throw bright spinnerbaits to fool stupid bass . Around June those bass are a bit wiser so I throw subdued colored skirts with a bit smaller blades . A gold willowleaf main blade with a copper colorado secondary blade had put several hundred fish in the boat the past two years . Thats a combo I never see anyone else throw . I dont know if its better than more traditional blade finishes but it works and its something they are not seeing elsewhere .

Late Summer Crankin'
The Dredger 14.5 is small for a crank that dives that deep and not wear you out . If they would just come in silent model . I plan on going tomorrow and I'll crank some . The Red Eye Shad works real good for me yo-yoing down deep .

Almost Fell Out the Boat...
My wife wanted a pontoon . Instead I found a 1997 22 foot Lowe deck boat . She lays in the back and reads while I fish off the front deck . Its a good compromise . The local boat dealership has 1998 model right now for sell unless he already found a buyer . They dont last long .

Thumbing the spool when setting the hook?
Done it today . Stopped at culvert on a gravel rd . I had the spool in free spool and dip the lure around wood washed up against a culvert . So I have the thumb on the spool while dropping the lure in one hole then another .

My Dad was a bow hunter and while going through his archery stuff I found this contraption . I dont have a clue what it is or even if it has anything to do with archery . What is it ?

How Long Is Your Average Fishing Outing ??....
Its getting harder . I sit down about half the time now , where as I never sat down in the past . I have to take breaks . Also I go during pleasant weather . I cant tolerate heat for even one hour any more . Dr says I spent too much time in the heat and my body can no longer handle it .

why dont many people use casting spoons?
I use jigging spoons occasionally but rarely casting spoons . I never had much luck with them . I have some Krocodile spoons that I have tried on schools of deep bass and nothing . I just dont have any confidence in the things .

What size weight to use for bass fishing?
I use the lightest weight I can cast and pitch efficiently . How these guys pitch light weights on bait casting gear is a mystery to me . I need a 1/4 ounce minimum .

Minimalist Fisherman
Bank fishing I carry 1 rod and reel and sometimes just one lure . If I'm going to be out for awhile I'll throw a few more in my pocket . If Im going to be out for a long time I'll wear a vest with the pockets stuffed with lures . Still only 1 rod n reel .

Advice for a greenhorn
The dam is a good place to concentrate on , especially if its rip rap . Get some cheap lures like jig and grubs , pre rigged swimbaits ... because you will lose a few . Fan cast at the dam . Let the lures sink to the bottom then retrieve . Pause the retrieve occasionally so the lure will stay close to the bottom . As previously stated , bass on the bottom are easiest to catch . You want to follow the contour from deep to shallow . Then take a few steps and repeat . This is exactly how I approach dams fishing from bank .

Got my first baitcaster(s) - help me optimize
The lures you are throwing might be to light , especially for someone new to baitcasters .

Rod for Topwater like a bullet pop, chug bug
If I'm doing a lot of twitching a short handled rod makes it much less laboring .

Advice for a greenhorn
I am speculating you are fishing from shore . Try to fish around cover as much as possible . Any type of cover . If casting out in open water , use lures that sink . Let them go to the bottom then retrieve . Bass relating to the bottom are almost always easier to catch than bass suspended in the water column .

Favorite Crankbait Color
I have like three red crankbaits . An old Bagleys Balsa B , a Berkely War Pig and a Rapala Crankin Rap .
