  1. I didnt have a long learning curve . I picked it up rather quickly but I had a fishing background long before I started fishing plastic worms . Most of the people I fish with who also have a extensive fishing history acquire the skill easily and those who have not fished a lot just cant seem to get it .
  2. My frog combo only cost a little over 100 dollars . A 7 foot Epixor rod and a Kast King Assassin . I've caught some toads with it and it worked flawlessly .
  3. I felt like a noob yesterday .Man , the bass were hitting funny . Somehow managed a limit of 15 inchers .
  4. I just gave my cousins boy two huge bags of soft plastics that I will never use and I still have too much .
  5. I would just fish the grass beds and not think about the bluegills .
  6. I saw that tip many years ago in Bassmaster magazine . A reader sent it in . It works real well . I dont do it any more since discovering VMC offset hooks . They have a unique bend that keeps the worm in place and rarely do I have one slide down the shank anymore .
  7. I had a gut feeling today that there would be bass in the middle of the creek by the channel . I was wrong .
  8. I'll have to change the question to "What is the first thing I throw most often , in the lake I fish most often? " Then I will guess spinnerbait ..
  9. I havent used them a whole lot but my all time favorite Jelly Worms in Tequilla Sunrise worked well with them .
  10. I smoked from 16 to 41 . Just got tired of cigarettes controlling my life and quit cold turkey . It wasnt easy . One day , while landing a bass , my smokes fell out of my shirt pocket in the water . I needed my smokes more than fishing so left .
  11. I still have some . Cast like a bullet . Doesnt sink as fast as other lipless baits . I have caught schooling bass with them too .
  12. Hes something special. Doesnt even remember how to do certain things like tie a drop-shot but still in the top 20 .
  13. Well , we are all quarantined . My wife is losing her paid off time , so it looks like the trip is cancelled this year . Thanks for the suggestions , I looked them all up .
  14. Yeah boy! My go to crank then is not a square bill but a Bomber Model A .
  15. I wish I had one . Dad gave me Doll Flies and I lost them all . He was cheap and didnt give me anymore .
  16. Theres been a couple of times in my life where the schoolies kept showing up in the same area . So I found the school with my depth finder holding on the featureless bottom . I call it "Dark Structure". I got a crankbait down to them and caught them cast after cast .
  17. I love them in rip rap . Yes they get snagged but thats how I know I'm doing it right .
  18. I have several original Rapala Floating Minnows maybe a dozen ,in the garage . I dont even carry one anymore . Not that they dont work . I'm just not equipped to throw them . My rod priorities are for heavier lures and there is no since cluttering up my tackle bag with lures that wont get used .
  19. If it just happens , whatever I have in my hand . If it is an ongoing thing a top water like a spook , lipless crankbait or heavy Strike King Rocket Shad are excellent choices . Something that can be cast long distances .
  20. I dont understand either but it has to be something you are doing .
  21. I dont get it either . I much prefer quiet baits than rattling ones . I think rattling baits will break up a school of bass that are weary of lures . A silent Red Eye Shad will catch one after another . Toss a noisy bait down there and they disappear . Same with diving baits . When I first got my Berkely Dredgers , I was mopping up with them . Now I'm hesitant to tie one on because I catch a bass on first cast then its "Adios Amigos" .
  22. I still have some original Lightning rods 5'6" and 6' mh's. I like the shorter handles but longer rods have more advantages that I dont use short sticks anymore . I keep one in my boat for spook fishing but I havent done that for a number of years . Walking the dog is much easier with a shorter rod , at least for me it is . I think I read Charlie Campbell used a five foot rod for spooks .
  23. He already qualifies for the opens doesnt he . Classic and AOY champ . ...and a question about kayak tourneys . What if you are out of range . Can you show them the pictures later ?
  24. Put a note on the bulletin board . Wanted Bass Partner .
