Bleeding Bass and Mountain Dew
I dont have catch and release in my cooler , I do have Mountain Dew . I'm not stating it works . I dont know if it does or not . I did witness a top bass pro do it and thought that was interesting . As far as harming the bass , if its bleeding badly , its already in grave danger .

orange lures
Orange bellied crankbaits have accounted for a lot of bass .

Local reservoir filled with young trees
Small reservoirs with a good population , just go fishing . Bass will be in the trees so use lures that will fish the trees well .Pitch or sidearm your cast as far inside as you can . Or skip lures if you have that skill .

orange lures
The only orange I ever had luck with was on jig trailers . I used orange pork frogs in extremely muddy water here and at Table rock after I caught a deep crawdad that had orange tipped pincers .

Heddon chugger spook
I found mine . It had a rubber skirt on the rear hook . I dont know if it was made like that or it was added .

Heddon chugger spook
I think mine is the same color as yours . I have quite a few 1960's era lures , one of these days I'll find a buyer .

Heddon chugger spook
Are they actually selling for those prices ? Maybe new in box .

Bamboozled
They use to make a Spring Lizard/Waterdog . I used a black one on a black jig if I thought I could get a big bass . Didnt catch a lot on it but they were usually hawgs .

Bowfin eat frogs too.
The last one I caught was on a Rattle Trap while fishing for smallmouth in a river . That one surprised me because usually I catch them in shallow back water areas .

Heddon chugger spook
Sorry , I never used one . I think I have one some where , from my grandpas tackle box .

Rigging a shaky head
I dont fish them that much but can rig them straight . Simply hold the hook against the worm the way you want it to look . Then take note where the hook enters and exits . There wont be a lot of hook in the worm but it will be straight .

Bowfin eat frogs too.
That had to be fun catching one on a frog . I havent caught one for a few years but they are a blast .

Perfecting techniques (drop shot) or wasting time
There is not much to perfect . I suggest trying to catch bass and not waste time trying to perfect techniques .Figuring out what lures to use is a pretty handy technique . Bass fishing is a lot easier than people try to make it .

Crankbait Presentation
I dont doubt you but its not going to work with Chara .

Bleeding Bass and Mountain Dew
So what if its not made for fish . Does it work is the question ? A lot of products are used in ways they were not designed for . I usually have a Mountain Dew and the next time I get a bleeder I'm going to experiment .

Your fishing success
Unless fishing nights I dont pay any attention to the moon . I never look at the barometer , I just dont see how that little of pressure change affects fish . It just happens to change when the fronts move in and out . Light , wind direction and speed , fronts and water clarity are all factors that I pay attention to .

Favorite Lures
1/4 ounce is the biggest I see at the stores . They use to come bigger . I have a few bigger size that I found at a mom and pop store last year . They make a half ounce salt water version that looks promising . But you can create your own . They sell the arms separately . Just add the jig head and body of your choice .

Bass missing crankbait?
Sometimes bass will hit crankbaits but not take it . Just bumping it . When one is caught , its barely hooked or snagged in the face .You can try using less a belligerent bait. One without as much action , duller colors and no rattle .One time I switched to a suspending jerkbait "Rapala X-Rap" when bass were behaving like this and that worked immediately .

Fish activity during heatwave.
Where I live the thermocline is not that deep during the summer . Often its around 15 foot . Then the baitfish will often accumulate a few feet shallower , There are usually bass to be caught at that depth . Then just going down the bank and fishing visible targets work too . I have had a lot of success in the hot months . I dont even attempt it now days . The sun is too much for me . Night fishing is good but I want a bright high moon at dusk . Thats when I have the best results .

Skill
Feeling the tick when the lure is falling is what I strive to do . If I feel it , there is going to be a hookset . But something has changed over the years and I dont feel them as often as I use to . The main difference in how I fish is the use of a longer rod . Dont know if my hands are not as sensitive or shorter rods are more sensitive than longer rods . It seems more and more now days , a fish is just on there and I felt nothing .

Favorite Lures
If bank fishing from pond my most productive lures have been , in no particular order Beetle spins Texas rigs weightless worms buzzbaits spinnerbaits . I donrt know why but large Beetle Spins and pond bass go together .
-
Skill
Still do it and all my rods have a beefy foregrip .
-
Skill
The equipment is a lot better today then when I started bass fishing . I used 5.5 foot pistol grip rods and held onto it by the foregrip, while holding the line between thumb and index finger, to detect light bites .

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Yep , tie a washer on your line and pitch them in .

The official "Who's drinking tonight?" thread
Watched the firework show then a thunderstorm hit immediately after . The party got moved inside. Drank lots of beer . The girls started drinking cheap wine and I joined in . Thats about it . People were playing washers , so I got my rod out of the corner and started pitching a spinnerbait into the bulls eye . That awed everyone . A few people tried but all they could do is backlash it . I think I invented a new game .
