  1. I dont have a strategy for heavily pressured waters . I just carry on like normal . Now sometime during the day I may come up with something . The wheels are always turning .
  2. I just did the same thing . I filled two large sacks full of soft plastics . My cousin works on the garbage truck and when they stopped I gave them to him . He wont have to buy any for a long time .
  3. Wal-Mart overrated simply because I always , I mean always , cant even get down the aisles because oblivious people dont know they are blocking it . Makes my blood boil . Straw hats ?
  4. I eat a lot of eggs . I boil them just to have some on the go . I bring deviled eggs to carry-ins and they disappear fast . Then there are pickled eggs . I found a good recipe for those . The best way to boil eggs is with an insta-pot . Five minutes timed under pressure . Five minutes to relieve pressure then five minutes in ice water . Eggs will peel perfect every time .
  5. When I was little all bass lures intrigued me . The sporting goods store was my favorite place to go .I was especially intrigued by plugs . My first two lures I bought was a Mirrolure-jointed catfish lure . I never seen another one in my life .Wish I still had it . Then I bought a Storm Thin-Fin .I didnt even have a good place to use them . I tried them in the Mississippi but never caught a fish on them . It wasnt until I turned 16 and started driving that I found some places to catch bass .
  6. I use the Strike King Midnight Special . It has a rattle . I dont know if the rattle helps but I have success with it .
  7. I think skill plays a much bigger role than luck . Bluebasser cant be that dam lucky .
  8. One of my first jobs I worked at a warehouse and we clocked in at 7 . The boss was late every day , so I would wait by the time clock until he arrived then clocked in right before him . He didnt like it but I was an asset and he put up with me .
  9. The first Texas rigged bass I ever caught was done that way . I was being skunked and I met another guy on the lake who said he was doing good with a jig n pig . I didnt have any jigs or pigs . So I slid on a bullet weight , then a black spinnerbait skirt, a worm hook and t rigged a black Mister Twister Twin tail . I hopped it down this rip rap bank and felt the "tap" . I reeled in the slack and set the hook like a boss . That was the single most important bass I caught in my life and changed the way I fished . Now I make my own skirted weights with a spinnerbait mold like Catt described .
  10. I'm am almost always early . My brother is always the last person to arrive no matter what the plans . He always has a lame excuse .
  11. I have never seen bass act like that . Would have been something to see . As far as the guy working a popper super aggressively , uh , I have done that a lot. Learned it from a couple of fellows fishing a pond . I thought they were crazy but they were catching fish . I do it during the hottest time of year . Middle of the day . Sun bearing down . I dont do it much anymore because I'm not out there it that type of weather but if I was ...
  12. I have one and had no problems with it . Light weight and I havent broke it .
  13. I could not find the schematic on that site . I found a youtube video and I think I got it back together correctly . At least it works in my front yard . Thanks for trying to help me .
  14. I took the reel apart and have this super thin washer or spacer or something that magically appeared . I dont know where it goes . It actually fits on the under the cast control knob but also on the crank shaft . I cant find the schematics for this reel online . Does any of you have a link ? Lews Tournament MB TS1SHMB
  15. You can also buy parasite clips and catch a lot more fish per worm or use a barrell swivel the same way .
  16. They are Okuma Epixor . I bought one because it had a nice beefy foregrip , thats where I hold the rod . It just feels good , I cast well with them . I have 7 foot mh for spinnerbaits and such . 7 foot hvy for a worm rod .
  17. I used those things a bunch , upside down on a spinning rod with the spool reversed and the "switch" reversed . I gave them to an older gentleman , that was all he used.
  18. I like to hit them with spinnerbaits or buzzbaits first too see if I can pickoff aggressive fish . Then I use Texas rigged senko type worms . The brush piles I fish are home to dinks , bluegill and crappie along with bigger bass . I dont want to tempt those little ones with , appendages , fire tails , or any kind of enticing tail to nibble on . I get a "lot" fewer phantom hooksets with Texas rigged stick worms and a quarter ounce weight than other offerings , so I catch a "lot" more bass with them .
  19. I'm thinking of going to 30 for frogs I use 50 now . It would cast better and I dont think I would have to change the way I fight the fish .
  20. My favorite combo cost 115 dollars . With discounts I got the reel for 45 bucks .I dont know how long it will hold up but I have two of them now and like them better than my more expensive reels . My rods are 70 dollars apiece . They are not even classified as bass rods they are classified as inshore rods . I love them and now have four . Plan on getting more .
  21. Title reads smaller swimbaits . Clickbait!!
  22. I dont use a lot of jerkbaits "but" one summer day I had bass slashing at crankbaits . The ones I caught were either barely hooked or snagged in the face . I switched to a suspending jerkbait and that was the ticket .
  23. Going through some of my stuff I found these . Many decades ago , before the popularity of soft plastic jerk baits , I whittled a piece of wood and made a two sided plaster of Paris mold . I melted used plastic worms and poured them in . I caught lots of bass with them both Texas rigged and weightless . I still have the mold . Probably the ugliest worms ever made .
  24. Just yesterday I caught a bunch of 1 to 2 lb bass fishing in duckweed and moss . I simply retrieved a Stanley Ribbet by gently tweaking it on top of the stuff and the bass would blow up on it . I posted in the wrong thread , again .
  25. Robert . He grew up on the Mississippi river . He has the crappiest equipment but he knows how to put fish on the dinner table .
