  1. I think they should have a contingency plan for weather delays . Give them an extra hour or two to fish in the afternoon instead of cutting the day short . There is more than enough time for that .
  2. I've been toad fishing and have less than a 50 percent hookup ratio any way . On top of that there are bass buried in heavy brush 5 to 8 foot deep and I'm having a difficult time getting them out . I set the hook on them , they are hooked and then I'm hung. Cant get them through it and have to break the hook off . My equipment is not heavy enough for that situation . I'm using 7 foot hvy action rod with 17 lb test trilene xl . The string is strong enough . Its extremely difficult to break . I need more leverage like an 8 foot rod .
  3. I subscribed to him and like his tips , especially the one where he roughs up soft plastics to bring the salt out .
  4. Darn it . Now the next time I go fishing I'm going to overthink my hooksets .
  5. I dont think Elite winners automatically qualify like the Opens winners . They have to finish high in the Angler of the Year standings .
  6. I went yesterday and it was hot but there was a nice little wind that kept me comfortable . Then the wind stopped and it was almost unbearable . I drank lots of water but sweated it out faster than I could drink it . Did not urinate one time in 10 hours . I should have went in "but" fish were biting , they were hiding where they were suppose to be , I just couldnt leave them .
  7. On a Texas rig or a jig I just kind of , I dont know , I just stick em .
  8. I like large poppers in good sized waves but not so rough I cant control the boat . Hot weather around large standing timber is the time .I make as much noise as possible . Hard quick snaps of the wrist, spraying water 6 foot or more .
  9. Already twice this morning I heard pros ask spectator boats to please move and saw one go between Kennedy and the bank he was fishing . Sheesh!
  10. Stanley Ribbett texas rig worm spinnerbait .
  11. I have the Strike King Timber Spoon with the buzzbait attached .
  12. Being the water is high with lots of flooded cover , I changed almost my entire line-up .
  13. I never fished spoons much . Strike King made a metal one . Norman had/has one with a paddle wheel in the middle . I saw a couple of the Normans at a trading post here recently . I carry a couple of Johnsons but dont remember the last time I tried one .
  14. Anything that I can bomb . Lipless cranks , heavy top-waters ...
  15. I have never seen anything like that . Tom didnt see the picture .
  16. I have a spot on a public lake that produces trip after trip . For the longest time I could not figure out why . Eventually it sunk in . Now that I know why , the spot is even better because I approach it more efficiently .
  17. I like catching spotted bass . I try to get to the Ozarks once a year and always happy to see them show up .
  18. I make my own but if I see some blades I like I will purchase that bait just to reuse the hardware . I bought a Booyah Covert series because of the Hildebrandt blades . After about thirty bass and bending the wire back into shape a few times , it was time to retire it . The blades are now on a new bait for thirty more fish .
  19. I would probably mistake it for a big spot .
  20. I prefer oval split rings but I'm not replacing all my baits with them . I just use the split rings on the bait . I think its best to cut and retie often anyways , so dont fret about ease of changing lures .
  21. The overhand knot keeps it on until it gets wedged then it pulls off .
  22. I just slide the line through a bullet sinker add a bobber stop and tie a simple overhand knot on the end .
  23. hmmm , dont know .
  24. I buy Dollar store , you get three tubes . I dont do a lot of swimbait fishing but like them on buzzbaits . Being my buzzbaits are made to hold a skirt I have to super glue the swimbait on . After about a dozen fish the bait is usually ready to replace .
