  1. What is your favorite cover to fish ? I have to say culverts . Big square concrete ones or round tubes . They are usually good for a bass ,often several and big ones to boot. I would have to give honorable mention to beaver houses . They usually have a bass or three on them too .
  2. Bomber Prop A Rogers Big Jim Dalton special Pico Pop Rebel Popper forerunner of the PopR
  3. I still use them . I just dont have any purple . An 8 inch blueberry has been doing well the past couple of years .
  4. I like the VMC without the 3 degree offset point.
  5. I was fishing from bank , casting a spinnerbait at standing timber and hanged in a tree . This was with 15 lb Big Game . I tried to break it off and couldnt do it . Finally the tree broke and got caught up in another tree . So I once again tried to break it . The spinnerbait pulled free . After examining it I saw the hook had broken off . This was the first time I used it and have been using it ever since .
  6. There was a big ice storm and all I have to do is collect the wood people have already cut up .
  7. Stocking up on campfire wood . This is not all. I have two other stacks .
  8. We were all poor anglers at one time . If I could stress one thing to new anglers that would be to choose lures that cast well with their equipment and make low trajectory sidearm cast or pitch too cover . Those Hail Mary overhand lobs at ninety degree angle toward the shore doesnt equate to a good day on the water .
  9. Heading to Bull Shoals next week . I'm a dirty water angler . My spinning equipment is set . I'm trying to make a decision on what to spool my baitcasters with . Any of you Ozark anglers care to clue me in ?
  10. After day 1 this is by far my worse tourney of the year .
  11. 1 Spinnerbait , 2 Beetlespin 3 Crappie jig Ive only been once in a boat and caught twenty something on a spinnerbait . I have stopped at some irrigation culverts and caught a few on Beetle spins and crappie jigs .
  12. Color is very complicated . It doesnt even exist except for in our brains . Our rods or cones "I cant remember which one " gets activated by different light waves and our brain assigns a color to them . For all I know we humans dont even see color the same .
  13. It might be true but I catch so many bass with blue worms that I'm still going to buy and throw them whether they see that hue or not .
  14. Rogers Big Jim . Its a Big O type plug . Its the most successful square bill I ever threw . Rattleless and not a lot of action but its the only crank I have that actually hunts .
  15. Purple and all their variances have been my top color since the 70's .
  16. I cant even fish. Just been once ..Every free day I have the wind has kept me off the water. 20 to 40 mph winds every day .
  17. Bass not hitting top waters ? Well, thats pretty common in waters everywhere .
  18. I asked Randy Blaukat this very question on his Youtube channel . He said definitely yes . I have personally witnessed line shy and lure shy bass .
  19. What makes a good Chug Bug ? I have several . never had much luck with any of them .
  20. Yes , especially with crankbaits . I had a Bomber Long A Minnow that was flawed and when jerked it would come to rest perpendicular to me . So it had a half step action . That was a special bait and I dont remember what became of it .
  21. I used a half a stick worm on a jig head for river smallies and caught them by the dozens . Later I heard about this great new bait called a Ned rig . Dont use it for reservoir largemouths . They just are not functional for the places I fish . In a couple of weeks I'll be fishing a lake with extremely clear water and may be forced to adjust . We'll see.
  22. Skipping lures . I just havent got the hang of it . It kills me too , knowing I could catch more bass if I could just skip a lure back there .
  23. Bomber Long A Minnow in silver flash . When it is on its on "BIG" .
  24. I think the popper is interesting . The largest Kentucky bass I ever caught was with a chugger and using a steady retrieve . It pushed a big bulging wake out in front of it and wiggled a bit . That popper may do the same thing .
