  1. My best popper fishing has been in standing timber during the summer . I make as much noise as I can and use larger sized poppers .Sunny or cloudy days . Seek out the biggest trees .
  2. Between the cottonwoods and the Chara I had to hand pick-clean my buzzbait a lot last trip . Sometimes multiple cast in a row .
  3. I think I get about 30 foot with a 7 foot baitcaster , 17 lb trilene xl and half ounce jig . I cant pitch any less weight smoothly with a low trajectory . It should be a nice easy action .
  4. I fish to catch fish . Social interaction is what bowling night is for .
  5. I still Texas rig a bunch . My favorite for shallow brush are senko style lures . They are heavy and pitch more effortlessly than most . If I'm casting , like out on a point , I like Jelly worms and other skinny style baits .
  6. I recently picked up a few Bitsy Flips 1/2 ounce "clearance sale" and they have a big hunk of lead that extends most of the way down the shank , to give it weight and keep the lure head compact . I havent used one yet but it seems like chunk style trailers will work best . I dont think attempting to threading a trailer over that "thick" piece of lead will be very practical .
  7. I try to pick the days that will be most comfortable for me . I like a little bit wet .
  8. Go to the crappie section at Wal-Mart and get some jigs , any kind will do .
  9. Buzzbaits are my favorite lures to throw and have been using them since the 70's when I discovered the Lunker Lure . This is the one I pour and use now days . 1/2 ounce , cast a mile , tracks straight , retrieves slowly and has a high hook up percentage . I have to super glue the plastic on because it was designed to be used with a skirt .
  10. Neither .I caught over 40 today on a 1/2 ounce homemade buzzbait , with around 15 over 15 inches . I use a paddle-tail swimbait . Its heavier than a skirt so it cast better and retrieves slower .
  11. I thought that was the stupidest looking hat I ever seen .. Had to take a second glance .
  12. Is there such a thing as an Oklahoma rig ?
  13. Any of the Ozark lakes . I always catch fish , even a few keepers but I have never slayed them . I plan on making a return trip this fall . Maybe Pomme De Terre . Havent visited there yet .
  14. I mentioned my first lure that caught a bass but I believe my first bass was with a live night crawler , bobber and cane pole .
  15. I use that triangular David Fritz endorsed model . I dont know which ones are best . The hound dogs work well .
  16. I think it was a red Cream worm . The one with the two hooks and little propeller . I bought it at the corner grocery store .
  17. I use the Trilene knot close to 100 per cent of the time . I dont use it with braid .
  18. I was at the Goodwill yesterday and they had a fiberglass Lews Speed Stick . 5'6" pistol grip . I went back today for it and it was gone . They also had an old green Johnson Century it was gone too .
  19. Usually I make a lot of changes throughout a days fishing . Color , action , size , technique , lures , location... and I dont have a rule for any of it . Just try to make good decisions .
  20. How could I omit those .I have a stash too .
  21. If its a very light rain in warm weather I'll give buzzbaits a go for sure .
  22. I was away all week and did not check the results . Must have been a bad tourney for most . I was in the 900's but still inched up a little .I missed the weight total by 2 ounces . My classic picks are in , subject to change Zaldain Ito Card Felix Wiggins
  23. I'm an early bird . I almost always get up before the sun does . I have gotten up at two before , got my stuff prepared . drank coffee , ate breakfast... and get to the lake before the sun rises .
  24. Roadwarrior , how did you do and how did you catch them ?
