  1. Robert . He grew up on the Mississippi river . He has the crappiest equipment but he knows how to put fish on the dinner table .
  2. 13.25 lbs is a good limit for me .
  3. You picked about the only thing that will work effectively .A weightless worm that is heavy enough to cast on baitcasting equipment . I use a heavy a heavy flipping hook . I have caught a lot of big bass out of stuff like that . Just slowly work it on top , pause at thin spots and twitch it in place . Be ready for a monster explosion . Work it to openings and pause it . There is not much else that will work .
  4. I have a couple of vintage "Tonka Toasters" . I fill them with pie fillings, pizza ingredients , ham n cheese or whatever I can think of .
  5. If all the honey holes are getting hammered then you might think about keeping the trolling motor down , head down the banks and out-fish everyone else . Lure selection and placement will go a long way . I belonged to a small bass club back in the 70's and small waters were all we had to fish . The smallest we fished was 80 acres . Everybody fished out of jon boats with elec motors and no sonar . I just looked closely at my hat . Manns bait company . I was a jelly worm fanatic .
  6. I've done that . I once set the hook and the baitcaster fell off the rod . Had to hand reel the fish in .
  7. Look up Chara algae and see if this is what you are dealing with . I have to fish that stuff all the time and have pretty good success.
  8. Buy jigs that you can place where you want to with ease . You want to be able to pitch it and sidearm cast it accurately and effortlessly. Find the sweet spot "weight wise" with your combo and put the lure where the bass hang out . Or get the wrong weights and struggle with placement and struggle catching bass .
  9. If you dont use it now , catch a bass and show a pic you are not a fisherman .
  10. Lots of structure on this lake . Look at those two humps connected by a saddle . Thats a good looking spot there .
  11. The diamond file on a Leatherman gets the job done fast plus you also have a Leatherman .
  12. Caught my first chatterbait fish today , four feisty smallmouths . The river was muddy from all the rain , I thought perfect for the bladed jig .
  13. All my depth finders located the thermocline . Even the old flashers .
  14. Looks like a good little structure lake .There are points , humps and saddles .
  15. I havent been in a couple of weeks but no . Been catching good numbers of 15 inch keepers shallow in the green stuff .
  16. You are going to have to re-word this . What are those numbers representing ?
  17. You never know unless you give it a try . I have found some great spots over the years that no one fished . I have also opened my stupid mouth about some and they were fished out in no time .
  18. A trick I learned on this forum is to let out the same amount of line as the length of the rod and count it down . The length of the rod is already known .
  19. I sold a whole tackle box full of lures at a garage sale . That was stupid .
  20. I do that too . Sometimes I'll catch a double .
  21. I have never seen a mouse in the water but I have seen one in a basses stomach .
  22. Thats why I throw a diving bait . I dont have to guess the depth it is at . I know how deep "some" of my baits dive so I can get them close .
  23. If the suspended bass are relating to a point , sometimes they are catchable . I usually throw a deep diving crankbait at them . Red Eye Shads and Texas rigged worms with the hook exposed have worked too .
  24. If the furnace is on its whiskey and Coke . If the AC is on its margaritas .
