Water Temp for Beginning Top Water ?
I have caught bass on top waters in colder water but its been a rarity for me. Low 60's I'll start twitching floating minnow type baits like the Long A.

8In Manns Jelly Worm
I used Jelly worms most . I liked fliptails too. They just were not readily available like the Jelly worm which could be bought anywhere.

What rod/reel caught your PB?
Probably the exact same thing as mine, even the line.

What rod/reel caught your PB?
The reel is an Abu 4600c with the red thumb bar. Thats all I used . The rod was probably a Berkely Lightning rod . 6 foot with pistol grip handle.

What would you throw?
I didnt even see the bait. I have caught bass guarding fry with Texas rigged lizards.

How did you find your “spots”
I use out dated 2D sonar . Bass like to use points, humps channel drops and those can be easily seen on any sonar. Brush piles ,cover and fish arches are easy to identify too. Bad part is, all those classic offshore spots get hammered.

Crankbait colors
When I get past say 8 foot all the way down to 22 foot , Chartreuse or Fire Tiger have been my best colors. More natural colors shallower. I like the gold foil and perch that Rapala uses.

Covering water vs picking apart the area
Often you just have to play it by ear. I once went through a brushy area with a buzzbait and no takers. Conditions were pointing to buzzbait but you cant force bass to bite. I went back though with a Bomber Prop A, a more slower, finessey top-water and nailed them [first time using that lure] . I remember the year was 1987. Sometimes I remember years but cant remember yesterday. That lure has been a staple in my repertoire since.

Covering water vs picking apart the area
If I'm junk fishing down a bank I generally cover water fairly quickly [I'm not a KVD type burner] and pick apart cover encountered.

I Tried Watching the Bass Elite Series This Morning...
I dont mind them not catching bass every cast. I want to see them work for the bites. Ive caught lots of bass ,so watching non stop bass catching is boring to me.

Is the Texas Rig one of your confidence baits ?
I use it more than anything. 5/16th oz weight is my benchmark. There has to be enough weight to easily cast and pitch into the sweet spots.

Heaviest shallow diving lures that are small and float?
Bomber Long A with the silver flash inserts. I've been using those things since they were first introduced. Big fish crushers . The three hooked one, dont know the model number. Cast easily on bait cast gear with 12 lb test.

Favorite Arlie jig
Whatever jig I can cast/pitch the best is the one I'm going to use. 3/8th with trailer is a good weight for my wormin rod. Best colors are black skirt brown trailer or vice versa.

Spinnerbait making: An open discussion.
The deep cupped Colorado's did not spin well for me as the leading blade. I might not be as proficient a caster than most of you but I almost always throw a 1/2 oz bait because its the size my spinnerbait rod handles best . If I have trouble with placement then it makes no difference what the components are.

Bite detection
I went out for the first time this year yesterday. I was a little rusty on detecting bites with a plastic worm and missed several. It took a couple of hours to get back in the groove. A lot of times the bites are not felt . I just try to pay attention and be ready when it happens.

What do you suspect you're doing wrong that other BR anglers are doing right?
I am among the worse at fishing frogs. I even have a dedicated frog rod , it dont matter. I set the hook too soon or too late.

What do you suspect you're doing wrong that other BR anglers are doing right?
I didnt know it but evidently I wear the wrong underwear, eat the wrong pizza and drink the wrong beer.

Lure choice for ponds
Soft plastics weighted and weightless, beetle Spins, Storm Thin Fin, Buzzbaits , spinnerbaits have all worked well for me in ponds.

Anything of value in this old lure collection?
I was thinking the same thing . Also a couple of those lures looked like decoys
