Everybody knows the type of places bass like to hang out, The better I cast to those places , the more fish I catch. That means a lot of under hand pitching and roll casting .

I lived close to the Mississippi river, My earliest lures were simple crappie jigs. I fished rip rap banks, Lock and Dam and sloughs for any game fish that would bite.

Browsing through the fishing aisle awhile ago , looking at the new stuff . There were spools of Big Game fluorocarbon and Big Game braid. I might give the floro a go. Anybody have a chance to use it yet?

I took a young cousin out a couple years back . I graphed a point , tossed a buoy and told him to cast that direction . Dont cast behind us because its to deep , bass will be up on the point . He fires a cast out in deep water and catches a suspended fish , largest bass of the day, a 4 lber. It was a 1 in a 1000 cast , he kept trying but never caught another. It got me thinking that an angler with FFS could clean up on that point. No wasted cast. I would like to use one at least once.

If I ever but another elec. motor , it will have spot-lock.

Funny story I will try to make fast. I was fishing this small lake and there were two guys fishing in a decked out bass boat using FFS. The guy in front kept pointing the direction where he saw fish , so the guy in back would know where to cast. I met an old man and he was livid. He said there were these two guys in a bass boat and one guy was pointing for him to get out of the cove.

As a tournament fan , I hate FFS. If a person can ID a bass on a screen all he has to do is try to get it to bite. If he fails keep trying . As an angler it wont effect me. I have my two man plastic boat ready to go. As long as I can go down a bank and make good cast , I'll catch my share of largemouths and have a blast doing so.

Bass seem to bite better on windy days. I dont have a boat that handles the wind. My deck boat blows around like an empty potato chip sack . I fish from flat bottomed jon boats most and they dont handle wind at all . I plan my trips around light winds.

How does an 18 year old afford all this equipment? It has to be parents funding him.

Thats exactly how I feel.

I've been a fan of Bassmaster tournaments since the 70's.I read the magazines , rented videos ... how they caught them. All this time , I could do whatever they were doing . I could flip bushes, drag a carolina rig in 30 foot of water , find bait fish , brush piles... Even from a 12 foot jon boat , I could do the same things they were doing . I cant say that now. I'm not the type of person that wants to ban things . Its not going to effect my fishing one little bit. I just can no longer identify with people using 40,000 dollars worth of electronics to catch bass.

It looks like 5 of the top 10 are rookies and 8 out of 9 finished in the top 30. The person who led after the first week picked nothing but rookies. They are giving the veterans a thumping.

Carp . I love those goofy critters. When My dad got so old he couldnt get around too good, I bought a camper and set it on a shallow bay , protected year round by a levee. It was full of carp . Dad and I sat there many afternoons, playing harmonica, listening to baseball and catching carp . When he got so bad he couldnt do it anymore, I quit going. I bought floating fish pellets and kids were always stopping by to feed the carp. Dad got a kick out of that.

This is out dated thinking. In 2024 its the power of 7 transducer's.
