  1. I use to fish the riprap below a spillway in strong current by biting the tail off a curl tail grub and adding a small spinner to the hook . It gave the lure lift to keep it out of the rocks, and vibration. It was cheap and caught every game fish species there. Hybrids would hammer it.
  2. I have braid on one rod for frogs, mono on everything else. I'm only competing with myself and the fish .
  3. Take a Spike It chartreuse marker down the length of one side of a root beer colored worm and it might get you close.
  4. I routinely get in position then the wind shifts .

Me too. I use them on coverless points and flats close to a drop-off. 6 inch Manns Jelly worm on a 3/16th 0z jig head is a good producer.
  6. As far as retying goes. I check my line frequently and retie often . I'm going to spend a good 8 hours in a boat . I'll take my time to rummage through my gear , find what I want , tie knots... My rods are pre-rigged but I'll change lures before making the first cast if I think needed. I would say about 99 percent of the fish I caught this year were on six lures. So I didnt do a lot of changing this year.
  7. Some days infrequently and some days a lot.
  8. What a handsome specimen.
  9. Buzzbaits are my favorite lure and I donrt think I caught a single fish on them this year. Timing just wasnt right. My love/hate baits are frogs. I suck big time at frog fishing.
  10. I use to throw them all the time but quit because I was catching more fish on tandem's. I still throw them at night.
  11. I had a day like that and finally went to a suspending jerkbait and started catching those bumpers. It was a Rapala xrap to be exact.
  12. I have fished a reservoir since its inception . Small fish everywhere. Almost everybody was beating the banks and visible cover. When I discovered how to fish points I had them all to myself for about two years. It was fantastic until everybody else caught on .
  13. I went through having a spinnerbait for every conceivable situation stage . Stated making my own and bought way more blades that I needed. Wasted a lot of money. I was going to be a spinnerbait guru and ended up catching fewer fish . Since I made a reverse turn and only use a few styles.
  14. I'm showing my ignorance on lure making. The correct wording might be top pour. I made a 2 piece worm mold a long time ago with plaster of Paris. I dont want to go that route. It worked though.
  15. I could only find injection molds no open pour's.
  16. I have saved a lot of used soft plastics to melt and reuse. I want to pour my own 5 inch stick worms without spending a lot of money to get started. A Dinger style with the slot in it is preferred. Just a single cavity that can be poured into will do. I have looked on the internet and found a 4 inch one. Does anybody know if there is a 5 inch mold available?
  17. Fishing from bank is backward than fishing from a boat . I use inexpensive lipless ones. Find them on clearance or whatever. They will follow the contours from deep to shallow better than diving baits. Baits will get lost.
  18. I dont buy trailers. I just use what I already have. The only time I add a trailer to a spinnerbait is when I want a little extra weight. A half Dinger will give me about a 1/8th oz boost. Dont use chatterbaits often but when I do a cheap Wal Mart swimbait that I bought a kit of on clearance has sufficed.
  19. I was fishing and not catching anything . I met a man who said he was tearing them up with a jig and pig . I didnt have any jigs or pigs and never texas rigged before. I slid a sinker on my line , then a black rubber skirt stolen from a spinnerbait . Tied on a hook and texas rigged a black Mister Twister twin tail . I cast it at some rip rap and hopped it like I read about. On the drop I felt a slight tic just like I read, reeled down and set the hook on a keeper bass. That was the start . Next trip I had a bag of Jelly worms and wore the bass out with them ever since.
  20. However I do it , its probably wrong.
  21. Not exactly rookie status but the close.
  22. I dont stop pitching to targets in fall so use the same stuff that was working before fall . I like worms.
