  1. Boogie with Stu an 8 . Physical Graffiti a 10 . This is the type of stuff I listen to now days .
  2. ... also I always use a 2 foot or shorter leader . Long leaders are more trouble than they are worth and harder to detect strikes with . Being I dont fish grass I never had a need for a long leader.
  3. I dont unless someone starts the conversation . It bores people to death . I get asked about metal detecting more than fishing .
  4. I use Carolina rigs to cover deep water quickly . I rig it with a 3/4 or 1 ounce sinker , bead , swivel and hook .Just about any soft plastic will work . My largest bass on that rig was caught using a brown french fry .
  5. I caught a lot of big early season bass on the crawfish pattern Mudbugs . I threw them where a lot of anglers throw Warts .
  6. Bryce Canyon looks like an alien world .
  7. I make most of mine but will buy one if I see some interesting blades . I'll wear that spinnerbait out then transfer the blades to a new bait . I dont do anything to store bought baits except switch skirts to a different pattern when needed . I dont wire tie skirts . I buy ones that can be removed and carry a lot of them . Weight is the most important factor for me , not blades or skirt .
  8. First winter storm of the year just starting . A neighborhood squirrel getting some breakfast before shacking up for a couple of days .
  9. 1970'something , I was a noob at bass angling and getting skunked at a lake . I met another angler who stated he was doing quite well on a jig and pig which I had none of . I slid on a bullet weight , then slid on a black spinnerbait skirt , tied on a worm hook and Texas rigged a black Mister Twister twin tail grub . Bouncing the creation down a rip rap bank , I felt a tap , reeled in the slack and set the hook like Roland Martin . The most important fish I caught in my life and bass fishing would be much better after that .
  10. My all time favorite Rebel Deep Wee R was a crappie pattern . I doubt it was the color that made it so effective but the action .
  11. Just checked the weather and Phantoms are advertised on a side panel for 51 bucks . I guess I'll have four of them now .
  12. My Dad was a heck of a harmonica player. I picked it up at the age of 50 and we would sit around the camper and play them . I never became good but still play it when I'm by myself around a camp fire .
  13. That is one weird looking area and look at those three deep holes . I never seen anything like it . .
  14. I remember having a pack that came with red jig heads but I dont remember using them .
  15. I have three Phantoms and 1 Phantom x . The Phantoms have been top notch . One is going on five years and has caught a thousand or two bass . Its feeling a little geary with all that use but all my reels have done that after heavy use . Cast great . I highly recommend the Phantom , dont know about the others .
  16. I'm reminded of the time I stopped by this muddy lake and dug out my travel rod with a 1/16th oz Beetle Spin tied on . Maybe two inches of visibility . As I was retrieving, the tiny bait emitting weak vibrations , a wake was observed from about ten foot away homing in on the bait . That bass knew exactly where that little Beetle Spin was . I caught that bass , not huge but a good lesson was learned . How much vibration does a spinner need to put out ?
  17. Youre absolutely correct .
  18. I fish spinnerbaits a lot . The past few years its been my most productive lure .Conventional wisdom says to use a Colorado in stained to muddy water . I use a willow main blade almost 100 per cent of the time , even with one inch of visibility . The bass have no problem locating it .
  19. I've given up all my secrets but nobody listens to me anyhow , so they are still secret .
  20. I had a secret technique until last year when I found out lots of people do it . I let a swimbait sink to the bottom on structure such as points . Lift it up while keeping a tight line, allow it to pendulum back . This sometimes works on suspended fish .
  21. Go very slowly . Even then I have had a part fall out and not know where it came from .
