As a kid one of my side hustles was selling fishing worms . Everybody wanted big fat night crawlers but the best worms were the stiff , green ones that I dug from a storm sewer . I trapped , seined minnows and crawdads , Made my own carp bait . Helped my uncle make catfish stinkbait that he sold locally . Those little bag worms that you see on evergreen bushes and trees are fantastic bait . A pair of manicuring scissors will quickly remove them from their little cocoon . I used casting nets to catch shad for catfishing . Now when I want live bait I buy it .

About my torn retinas . The wife and I were heading to the lake for a week of camping and fishing . I was driving and looking up in the air . My wife asked "What are you looking at?" I replied "All those birds " My wife stated there were no birds up there . I was seeing thousands of floaters that were actually blood cells . That night I kept seeing flashes of light in my peripheral vision, so I knew something was going on . I made it through the weekend until Monday morning then called my optometrist . Was told to see her right away . She then sent me to a specialist and had emergency laser surgery an hour later . A few months after that, the same thing with the other eye . So if you suddenly start seeing floaters and flashes of light get checked out immediately, if you'd like to save your vision . .

I bought a 5 to 1 for cranks and feel I have been duped .

I havent fished a lot of clear water but when I have buzzbaits have been my best top water followed by Spooks .

Blade sizes are not the same with different manufacturers . I use a fairly small willow 4.5 from Janns on 1/2 oz spinnerbaits a lot .I rarely use a lighter spinnerbait . SpinnerBaits dont need a lot of vibration to get a basses attention, even in dirty water .

Be stealthy with your presence and lure presentation .

When I fish a small river its usually for smallmouths . Texas rigged craws , tubes , anything with appendages gets bit more than a worm . I toss them below ripples , current seam's and cover .

I usually have three knives when I'm fishing . A Swiss Army knife , Leatherman and a cheap San Ren Mu for easy one hand opening .

I fish half stick worms on Texas jigs . They have the bullet weight molded on an offset hook . Dont remember who made the ones I use , I know Owner makes one .

My goal is to clean out my garage , dig out the plastic boat from the clutter and fish some remote waters . Theres a lot of big bass in those places .
