  1. 90! Well thats nice of them . I know I wont be fishing at that age , if I make it . My legs are too weak . Its a hereditary trait thats been passed down to me . Well its that time of morning for me to walk the stairs downtown . 244 of them . I can only do it once. Then walk around main street and the riverfront for an hour . I'm trying to stay strong .
  2. The thermocline is already starting to drop . Sooner or later There will be a concentration of bass on the points . I'll just have to check it every time I go fishing . Worms and red Eye Shads are my two favorite lures out there but I will experiment with other baits . Then sooner or later there will be a lot of bass in the back of coves . Top waters , buzzbaits , spinnerbait and crankbaits will cover water for me and texas rigs in the cover . So its pretty much like fishing during the summer but I'll probe quite a bit deeper and spend a bit more time in the extreme reaches of the creeks .
  3. I made it there this year also . When I was a kid My parents always gave me a hunting/fishing license for Christmas .
  4. Tactical bassing has a video of how spinnerbaits run under-water . Some run with the hook at a downward angle and some level . Then there are some that are in between , king of unstable and those baits pivot up and down .
  5. I use to collect knives but sold most of them this past spring .
  6. I metal Detect and collect a lot of junk and old coins . I have sold some of my finds .
  7. I just want to know why the bass following the one I have hooked is almost always bigger .
  8. The Blakemore C.C. Spinner had a deeply cupped Colorado blade . I caught a lot of nice bass on that lure but never saw the advantage of that cupped blade . I make my own now and have pretty much abandoned deep cupped and Colorados . Even in chocolate milk colored water . I have some large old style Strike King copper willows with the flared sides that produce great in mud . The rest of the year I just scale back and usually opt for gold willows from different manufacturers . If it feels right to me I fish it , if it doesnt feel right then it doesnt get used . Heres the Strike King blade that I like for mud .
  9. I wear flannel considerably , light weight , heavy and lined .My local Farm store sells a brand called Stillwater . They are nice and priced right , especially when they go on sale . Here I am wearing flannel over flannel .
  10. If I catch a bass in cover I'm going to keep fishing that cover until I tire of it . If I catch a bass that doesnt seem to be relating to any thing , I'll fish a little more thoroughly before continuing down the bank . Its how I feel at the time based on past experiences .
  11. Deep cupped blades are not worth a hoot as the secondary blade . I accidentally added one to a spinnerbait this year and it barely turned on the clevis . I flattened it out and got it to work to my liking .
  12. I throw it whenever I feel like it will work .
  13. Heres five lures that have done well for me in past autumns Red Eye Shad fished deep on points . Three of the last four years my largest bass of the year was caught this way Bomber Model A crankbait . Dont know why but it is particularly effective in the fall Texas rigs are good all year and fall is no exception Buzzbaits are my favorite lure and shine in fall . Spinnerbait . If bass are not pouncing all over a buzzbait then a spinnerbait may be the ticket .
  14. I use a 7 foot heavy action rod for heavy cover and a 7 foot mh for lighter cover and more open water. A longer rod would be better for hvy cover but they wont fit in my truck bed so I make do . .
  15. I bought my Dad a spinning combo and he held it that way . So I took it away and got him another Zebco combo .
  16. I use compact spinnerbaits in current or deep water , otherwise I'll throw a spinner bait with more wire almost 100 per cent of the time . Compact doesnt mean light . I pour my own and have 1/2 ounce versions on small frames .
  17. I had to think about this one . The Rapala Fat Rap is probably the most consistent bass catching crank I have used . Best used with a spinning rod 8 to 10 lb test and runs 5 to 6 foot deep .
  18. Use them all . Go to the lure selection thread , there is some great advice there .
  19. One of my least favorite are docks . simply because I do not feel comfortable skipping a lead head jig around other peoples property . I really need to learn that skill better . I'll fish around the edges and in open slots but I dont like taking the chance of banging a lure off someones boat .
  20. ...and after a selection is made , make sure it is the right size that cast best with your rod . 93.8 per cent of all new anglers make this mistake . You should be able to easily underhand toss the lure accurately . If the lure is too light the cast will end up left of targeted spot . If too heavy they will go to the right .
  21. Fried pork chops , mashed potatoes and gravy , corn . I make great milk gravy and smother white bread in it . .
  22. It hasnt been mentioned , the Strike King Rocket Shad excels in fast current . Put a split ring or a little bit of wire around the double hook . I lost two nice hybrids after they pried the hook loose from the lure .
  23. I've caught a lot of large bass on bomber lures . Model A's , Fat Free Guppy Long A and Prop A have all caught 6lb plus bass .
  24. I do a lot of junk fishing , just putting the elec. motor on go and fishing everything visible .Culverts are great . Beaver houses are fantastic . Laydowns, isolated weed clumps.. . I like them all equally .
