could not enlist because of asthma,dad served 25 years USN. my way of serving was working for a Military training company call GRYPHON GROUP SECURITY SOLUTIONS. best d**n job I ever had! 8 years. so thanks to all the men and women of our armed forces around the world THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is one of the reasons that I started building my own rods.plus Mudhole is only 45 minutes away..........can put my hands on hundreds of blanks, handles,grips,etc. all at once.best thing I ever did.

just bought my first 1500c. and it is the best little reel I've ever owned. and I have all Abu reels in my arsenal. 19 at last count. finally found a 1500 that was my first. now looking for another !!!!!!!!!!

Rattletrap.............

first lure I threw this year was a rattletrap,1st cast caught a fish. Jan 1st. 7:28 A.M.

7 to 8 foot heavy to extra heavy,good aluminum framed reel,braided line 50-80 lb. you make the call on brand but that will get you in the ballpark.

see above, also look for xxx steel wool.it's super fine and won't scratch metal.

keep em until they break. have many that are over 15 years old. started making my own about 4 years ago so haven't bought a new branded rod in a while.

the best day I had was December 26th. that day my niece and nephew went out for the first time with me. my niece lives in same town as I do.my nephew lives n Denver. first time home in a few years. that wanted to go fishing with me like we used to when they were younger. first time on a boat for the both of em. so when I could open her up, they both just started laughing. we caught a couple of fish but just getting them together was the best day for me.
