One Line For Two Techniques - Arig/swimbaits
Define 6" swimbaits. Are you talking paddle tail style like the basstrix or actual swimbaits that weigh in the 2oz range like a 6" hud? I'm assuming the second option since you are asking about the a rig and those aren't real light when fully rigged. I use #25 Cxx on my swimbait setup. Some guys like braid for theirs. Usually #80

Using Custom Reels?
I don't care how nice a reel is. It's meant to be fished. Unless it's some super rare gem but in that case I probably couldn't afford it anyhow. You can always have it repainted if it gets scratched up. Just my .02

Without hesitation.

What Is Your Setup.
I know of said 'average' guy. I have a hard enough time using all 10 of mine. Granted I don't take my boat out as much as he does though. Plus work always takes up 5 days of my week.

What Is Your Setup.
There's no laws on what to use. A mh/f rod is very versatile. Just because it might be labeled a worm and jig rod doesn't mean anything. I throw everything on mine within it's weight range. Squarebills, spinnerbaits, jigs, worms, buzzbaits, ect

I'm just looking to tinker. The stock star is really boring. The alphas R star is the same as the px's

Trout Swimbaits
The body of water doesn't have to have trout to fish them. They'll eat it. Both bait types have their place but in water that cold I'd go with a hudd.

Need Some Help From The Daiwa Upgrade Junkies
I have a px68 and would like to know what drag star/s I could use in place of the stock one. I'm talking stock Daiwa parts that I can buy. I know there is a conversion to make the drag click and you can use the Steez or Pxr star then. For me it's not worth $75 for that conversion. I've test fit my Steez drag star on the px and it will go on but I'll need a different spool tension cap as it hits. Secondly it appears that I need a longer drive shaft also. The drag star won't go down past the step on the driveshaft. So when the handle is installed you can't loosen the drag up. Maybe I already answered my own questions but was looking for a direct swap out. If I'm buying a drag star, spool cap, and driveshaft then I'm only a few parts away from the clicker conversion anyhow.

Yeah the only problem when you buy a rod is you then have to buy a reel to go with it. I just picked up a champ 703 and had to buy a reel to go on another rod since I took it and moved it to the champ. Vicous vicous cycle!

Daiwa Lexa Or Aird
The Lexa is $70 on TW right now. The Tatula can be had on eBay or Amazon for $95-100. I've owned both. The Tatula is a better reel but if you don't have the budget then the Lexa is not a bad choice at all. just have to decide which one is for you.

I bid $190 figuring I'd be outbid in the last minute or so. Didn't need it but oh well. It'll get used.

Is This The Right Way To Tie The Albright?
Just to add a little perspective. Swimbait guys are using #30 line when fishing baits that weigh 6 ounces and catching double digit fish. I use 4 wraps down and 5 back up

I had 2 centrifugal tabs on and the mag dial at 0. Only ever used it when it got windy. Spool tension on the loose side. It's a great little reel.

How Does The Tatula Match Up To The Old Zillion?
Is it a zillion,no. You are also comparing a reel that retails at $150 to a reel that retailed around $250. That being said, I just got my 3rd Tatula in the mail today. Actually just finished tearing it down to give it a good cleaning and add 4 more bearings to it. I also own a Td zillion so I have fished them side by side. Personally I feel that the zillion is more solid feeling but once again price played a part of that. It's also not by a landslide either. The Tatula is a well built reel. You can't really get much better for the $100 you can get them online. The one I got today ran me $81 shipped off amazon. It's quickly becoming the reel to beat at $100. Actually I don't feel it can be beat at what you can get them for. If it was at retail then there might be a few contenders. I'd say you won't be disappointed with a Tatula. I would suggest trying to handle one mounted on a rod first. Some don't like the size of it. It's not huge but it is a bit bigger than most low profile reels. Hope some of this might of helped in some way.

What Rod For S-Wavers?
Really it'd be 2 different rods for the 168 and 200 but the guide select 7'11 heavy would be a decent choice. It's rated 1-6oz so it'll handle the 200 great and won't do bad on the 168. I throw both on mine. That lure tends to helicopter for some reason. Still a nice bait though.

For The Tatula Lovers
He fished with Tatula combos so that's probably why that's what they gave him. Also,my tatula gets used way more than my steez. It's has a bit too much hype following it.
