That's pretty much it. There are only 2 sot perception sport kayaks that are 12-12.5 ft. The caster and the pescador. I have a pic from the add but I'm not able to get a full view of it. From talking to him on the phone I'm gathering that he is a little unknowledgeable on it. He bought it fully rigged from someone and is now selling it. There's no company decals that I can see.

I've searched high and low but haven't found what I'm looking for still. Plan to purchase a used kayak that I found locally. Seller says it's a perception sport that's 12.5 long. I found a 12.5 caster but it's not made anymore. I sent him the pic and he says it's not the model. So I sent a pic of the pescador 12 and he said that's not it either. So do any of you know of a 12.5 perception sport that isn't either of those two? He mentioned a livewell on the phone. If that helps.

They have everything for a tatula that they do a Steez so that's not entirely true.

Daiwa,Shimano, and Abu are what they deal with. Pick a reel from one of those three companies. Look at their website to see what they offer for it. Some have more choices than others.

As much as I don't enjoy fishing painstakingly slow. I'll throw a 4" stick worm weightless wacky if I need to boat a few fish.

You cover more water because you're fishing faster. In some situations that's all well and good but truth be told... Most people need to slow down and work a spot more thoroughly not faster. I think some if you might benefit from a reel with an ipt of 12-18" It has its place for certain things like I mentioned earlier but I think for most it'll be too much.

I've broken off on fish before to catch them the same day or later on and they'll still have my rage craw in their mouth. Bait is useless but I get the hook back. I use tungsten so I'd be a lot happier if I got the weight back instead though.

Haha right. I'm wondering if the Jdm version is green and the Usdm is purple. Only assuming since one video is in Japanese and the other in English. I guess we will see at ICast.

I saw this earlier. I'm liking the green a lot. The purple works well too. Hopefully all those parts will be available from Daiwa in the not so distant future. As for the 9:1 ratio. The 8:1:1 Tatula = 33.9" ipt and 7:1:1 Lews TP = 31" ipt. It's not a huge difference in ipt between the two ratios. Though 40" seems like I bit much but I see where it could help when flipping,pitching, and punching. Also burning a trap or spinnerbait.

#12 is just too much for what I use my spinning rod for. That's why I don't have any need to use line of that test. #6 is plenty for me or #15 braid.

To me it's not very noticeable if at all on all my Daiwa's. I add the bearings because it's easy to do and I like to mess with things. Same goes with adding the bearing to the worm gear on some of the Daiwas. I think a lot of it is just in the head of the person. Oh I added bearings so it must be smoother. I have a tatula with the 2 bearings added to the worm gear and 2 more to the handle. If it wasn't for it being a different gear ratio than my other tatula's I couldn't tell you which is which.

Hedgehog doesn't offer drag kits. They do have their own bearings. For spools it's just things that are pretty much available to anyone. Not familiar with Abu choices though. Hedgehog is known for their dress up parts and bearings.

I've spoken with Keith a few times about this new series and he's assured me that they're better than the endurance. You'll love the new 723.

I have no hands on experience with the new max 3d series but they're supposed to be built on a better blank than the endurance. If this is true then you can't go wrong. They took all the models from the previous max and endurance series and offer them in the 3d series. The 723 endurance was one of my favorite rods. I used it so often that I have two of them. They were great do it all rods.

Figured I'd start a sensible topic instead of another "you can have 14 boats,78 combos,35 lakes,17,000 baits and 3 animals. Almost all my reels are spooled with braid BUT I'll tie a leader on for certain waters. When you can see the bottom plain as day in 15 fow it can help you land some fish. If it didn't have any positive qualities so many pros wouldn't be using it. Most line companies offer braid and fluoro. So they could easily push that companies braid to take care of the sponsorship part of the deal.

Even though the parts wear over time there is still a constant. Being new I set it up for 1/2oz baits. Then for a 3/8 bait it needs to go down 3 clicks to change baits. Now after a year of hard use you might have to add 1 click to your tension for 1/2oz and 1 to your 3/8 setting. The difference is still 3 up or down for a bait change. It makes sense in my head anyhow. Someone also mentioned about hearing if it gets bumped. This can be nice since there's been a few times when taking a reel cover off I've had this happen. Then I'm like oh it moved 2 clicks and I'll just add them to the tension. Plus us fisherman like cool noises haha. Joking but for some it can be true.

It's not on all high end reels either. Daiwa being a good example. My px68 had a Msrp of $440 and doesn't have this feature. It doesn't make it break my buying decision but it is nice. Like if I switch from a jig to a wacky senko then I know to go down 6 clicks. Just a luxury. Kinda like cruise control.

Just remember Op that this is the Internet and I'll leave it at that. 1/8 with 5" + worm will be more about 1/4 +1/4 jig with trailer is closer to 3/8 And so on and so on. A mh would be fine. There's more to picking a rod than just power. Plus there is no industry standard on labeling a rods power. I have a heavy rod that I'd throw a 1/4 jig with trailer and it'd do fine. Also fluoro has some stretch and that can help too.
