You'll hear 100 different answers. Some people don't even own or have minimal use of what they recommend. Some people just repeat what they hear elsewhere. There is no real right answer to this question. The Tatula is a nice $90 rod that's out right now. Pair it with a tatula reel for $95 and you have yourself a nice combo for $200.

Okuma GS/Cardiff 300 combo can be had for right at $200. You'll quickly want to expand on your bait choices and limiting yourself is just a waste of money because you'll have to buy another rod to throw bigger baits.

Just a heads up but the Bucoo series is very underrated. Their 6'10 heavy pitching stick is actually a medium heavy. Their 7'0 medium is more like a medium light. Nice rods but at $100 I think you could do better. Also the action is usually a moderate-fast which isn't always prefered. There's tons of "best $100 rod" threads. A quick search and you'll have reading info for days.

Exactly how it should be done. It's taken that fish a long time to grow that big. Who knows you might catch it again in a few years and break your Pb once more. Congrats!

I have ones for the 200 now. If you need a few let me know. I bought a whole bag of blue Xl owner caps. I need a few of the yellow large ones if you have them.

I bought a large art box from an art supply store and some foam. Keeps hard baits nice and secure. For soft baits I made a box to hang them. Keeps the tails from getting bent. It took me all of 10 minutes from start to finish. Total cost might of been $10 at best.

I spooled mine with #6 yozuri hybrid when I first got it. I liked it but I found myself hitting the knot that I tied to the spool with. It only happened a handful of times but it made me worry about what might happen if I hook into a big fish during one of those casts and it makes a run on me. I switched to #15 power pro and I'm not even getting close now. I just always carry some #6 line for different leaders.

I already have a px68 that I've upgraded the drag and spool bearings on. Plus added the bearing to the worm gear and the knobs. It'd a Pxr basically other than the clicking drag and some cosmetics.I like it a lot but hear great things about the sv and it's the same price.

Gotta pay to play. Swimbaits aren't cheap. Why try to cut corners when throwing them? I'm not even into the expensive bait realm of things either. $100 is my limit on a bait.

I tried to use my shellcracker on my flipping stick that has an 8:1:1 reel and I couldn't go slow enough to maintain it's action and not have it moving too fast. Also anything I've read on the Hudd says to go slow. I bought a dedicated setup since I'm going to be using them more often this year. A lot of guys use a lexa 300 for swimbaits. It comes in a 6:3:1 and a 7:1:1. Also a low ratio model but I think the 6:3:1 is pretty widely used.

I'm battling the monkey on this one. It might go 16 rounds. He's waiting for me to tire out.

Just like Francho said. Whatever the right tool for the job is that day. Sometimes it's a 4" wacky senko on a ml rod and light line and sometimes it's a 1.5oz weight and a XH rod with #65 braid.

$2.64 here in Western Md. Was $3.39 so I'm okay with it.

I just use a plain old lead nail weight or even regular finishing nails from Lowes. Neither has any type of head on it.
