  1. Imo buying a spool is a waste of money right now. If you have 0 brakes on and still can't get any distance. Then there is another issue here.
  2. As long as their feedback is positive and they have some sales under their belt. You really have nothing to worry about. You are covered by PayPal and can get a refund if it really comes to that. PayPal always sides with the buyer. I've gotten screwed over a few times because of this. I've been buying and selling on eBay for over 10 years. Anything from a $4 rocker switch up to a yz250. I get most of my reels off there. Never had an issue. Weather it be new, used, the U.S. or Japan.
  3. Medium heavy - medium = rods power. Extra fast - fast - moderate = rods action. There's also no set standard so one company might be different from another. "Best $100 rod" threads are pretty common on here. A quick search will give you reading material for days. My vote is to find a clearance crucial. Tatula, elite tech,*** Also as you'll see... Everyone has their preference on what the 'best' is. A lot of them also have no experience with other rods to make a fair comparison when claiming it's the best $100 rof on the market. Heck some people can just look at a rod and tell how sensitive it is. They don't even have to of used it.
  4. TW got me today. 2 TW reel covers 3 TW coozies 3 TW shirts 1 TW hat 2pks cut R worms
  5. I only add it when tying my line to the spool with an arbor knot. Other than that I feel a properly tied knot shouldn't slip.
  6. A good cleaning and some different settings are probably in order. A Pq was my first reel and it worked great. It's still in use today by a buddy I sold it to. When you say deeper cranks what are you meaning exactly? It's possible that your medium power rod might be overloaded.
  7. When in doubt... take a piece of line and cut it to the length of the fish and then the same for girth. You can measure them later and use the calculator to get a good idea of weight.
  8. I called Austin Kayak and was emailed a list of seats that would fit. The comfy manta looks like it should do the trick. I just couldn't say no to this deal. The extras alone came to almost $500 when looking them up online.
  9. I've never had one this bad. I'm not sure if it's from the factory or not. I took the knobs off to add the bearings in place of the bushings. There were already bearings in there. So someone has at least taken the knobs off. This could be their idea of how it should be. Who knows though. She's all fixed up now. Spooled with #30 pp hi vis and mounted to a champion 703. Nice little setup.
  10. For sake of the question. It would be a 7' m/f spinning rod and a 2500 sized reel. I used this combo for a long time and landed all types of fish. Then I got bit by the bug and have invested my money in higher dollar equipment. Now I couldn't even think about only owning one.
  11. Drove 4hrs round trip to pick this up on Monday.
  12. I don't think it's Ardent. I have a tube of it and this is more translucent looking. Plus it smells a lot worse. I actually don't mind the reel butter but I don't use it anymore.
  13. I use a mix of a few things. All except the drag grease can be picked up at Walmart and you'll have enough to do years of maintenance. Marine grease - gears 140wt gear lube - worm gear, sliding parts, and bearings. Remington oil spool bearings Cals drag grease - drag washers
  14. My kayak does not have an elevated seat. The lure 11.5 does.
  15. My guess is that it needs to have the spool bearings flushed and re oiled. 1 small drop of a good low viscosity oil is all you need. I have 3 Tatula's and they hang right there with some of my higher end Daiwas that have upgraded spools and boca os7 bearings.
  16. No spool shaft on this reel. Free floating spool, but yes you got the idea. Not all Daiwa's are free floating though. Some have a spool shaft. The spool rotated smoothly but it wouldn't free spool more than one turn due to grease on everything. Including all the bearings. My cup of solution looked like it had dandruff from all the grease in them. Gotta love brake cleaner. It'll break down anything, and fast too.
  17. So I picked up a 2nd PX68l off the internet. Description said that the spool doesn't rotate freely. It arrived today and automatically it was time for a complete tear down to the bare frame for a clean it up and to add some parts to it. The pictures are self explanatory. Also the reason why the spool wouldn't spin more then one revolution with the thumb bar disengaged. There's no need for this amount of grease. Took a bit to get it all clean but it's good now.
  18. That was a mistake on my part. The 128t has the elevated seat. It's the stock seat in the regular FS12T
  19. Yeah I wanted a kayak with an elevated seat and the ability to stand in but with the extras this one had it was hard to pass up. The kayak was free. I just paid for the other stuff basically.
  20. So I just got my first fishing kayak yesterday. Perception sport caster 12.5. It's pretty well loaded with dang near everything. It has the stock seat though. It's very thin and has no padding. I'm a larger guy at 210 lbs so it's not going to cut it. Any of you heavier people have any input on a good comfy seat? I've seen a few online but they're around $150 + I'd like to get around the $80 mark. Any input on the ascend deluxe seat? It's the stock seat that comes on the FS12T. I got a $50 bps gift card that I can use towards it. It'd only cost me $40 of my money. It has these wings on the side that look like they might get in the way at times though. Thanks for any help.
  21. Yes, I found it on Craigslist and drove down this morning to get it. 2hr drive each way.
  22. Picked this up today. I live 5 minutes from the river but can't put my glass boat on it. Plus we have a few places that are electric only and an outboard can't even be on the boat. So this should be a good time letting me hit some new areas. It's pretty well loaded for anything I'm gonna do in it.
  23. Yes, the laughs and smiles I had that day are the best part of it.
  24. Alright so I was able to figure it out after getting another pic. It's the caster 12.5. Comes with an x wing 3 switch console that has 4 rod holders, fish finder and battery, paddle, dry bag, emergency paddle, life vest, anchor, and a cart. $600
