Dragonfly 5dvs input
Yeah, I'm clueless when it comes to electronics. I currently have a lowrance mark 5x pro on my yak. I just want a color unit that will show me structure that's near me and a clear bottom picture.

Dragonfly 5dvs input
Planning to upgrade the ff on my yak and this one has my interest. Any of you have this unit on a yak and how do you like it? Any other units I should look at for $300. Looking for something that can show me a clear image of bottom and structure around me.

Diablo spec r for swimbaits?
It is a slower action according to Gary. Not a bad thing depending on what you're using it for. I can notice a difference between the two rods.
-
Does line make the difference?
They'll eat this contraption sinking down through the water... So most of the time I don't think they care about the line attached to it.

Diablo spec r for swimbaits?
Not that it won't handle it but is an F5 which is Megabass speak for medium - mh. I'd prefer the F6 for baits over 1/2oz. Especially if it was bottom contact stuff.

Diablo spec r for swimbaits?
Elaborate on 3.5-5" swimbaits. Do you mean soft paddle tails like Keitechs? Are you rigging them with a keel weighted ewg or a jig head? How heavy of jig head? A Keitech 4.8 fat weighs about 3/8oz without a hook. I'd throw anything about 1/2oz total without a worry on the Dsr. Above that I'd be looking at the tour versatile. It's got a tad more power to it.

7' Medium Light Casting Rod
What do you generally use it for and do you feel the weight ratings are accurate? I have a spare tdz with air spool that's spooled up with #8 yozuri. It needs a rod.

7' Medium Light Casting Rod
Yes, sir I do. I went with the 713 Recon 2. It's a nice stick that does everything I wanted it to. I've been tossing around the idea of picking up the 682 to try out also.
- Zillion tws? Good bad or?

Understanding Drag
A good rule is to set your drag at about 1/3 of what the line is rated for. If using #12 then set it at 4lbs. If using braid set it at to 1/3 of the braids mono equivalent. I've never really found myself backing the drag off while fighting a fish but I have many of times had to bump it up a little on bigger fish.

Good spinning reel for around $80
Okuma RTX 25S $75 online It's light and performs very well. We float the river for smallies about 3x a month and I easily catch 30-40 fish on each trip. It's been dunked a handful of times and still hasn't missed a beat. River smallies will really test out your drag too. The reel is over 2yrs old now. Still works great.

Bass Pro reels vs. Lews Tournament Pro
BPS now sells Lews reels. Your problem is solved.

Tatula CT and CT Type-R
Here's a side profile pic of the new vs old. Not my reel so I can't compare on actual feel. Just know someone with both and asked him for pics.

Tatula CT and CT Type-R
- Fluorocarbon leader length?
-
Tatula CT and CT Type-R
That is the type R. The regular doesn't have a red hood.

Tatula CT and CT Type-R
I noticed that right away. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the ratio. Like the new Steez SV103 has purple for the 8:1 and gold for the 6:3. Reel pictured is 8:1 and the regular model pictured on TW is also 8:1 and has purple.

Tatula CT and CT Type-R
Goose on top of things. Thanks for the heads up.

Tatula CT and CT Type-R
It's being released at the classic so it should be available for purchase shortly. Retail is $130 for the standard model so it's priced about the same but the fact that you can get the Alphas SV105 for about the same price as the R will make me wait until they come down $50 like the others did. PQ gears
You'll need to purchase the main and pinion gear from a 7:1 PQ to do the swap. It's the same reel other than that.

Please help me with this reel
Always have a schematic handy when tearing a reel apart. Daiwa offers theirs online. There should be a washer that is hard plastic under the main gear. Make sure it's there. http://daiwafishing.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/EXCELER-100H.pdf

Stuck Sideplate on Lews TP
Try backing the cast control knob off a few turns. It puts pressure on the spool pushing it against the sideplate. It might help.

td zillions (non TWS)
I still have my OG even though it's for sale. It's only to buy a J dream which is still built on the OG frame. I won't be sad if nobody buys it. Plenty of gear ratio and spool options to suite your needs.

How to keep up with what line is on your reels?
I keep a document on my laptop that's stored in my email so I can change it up from my phone if I need to. It's mainly for keeping track of what combos I have. I do list what line is on each reel but since I'm a braid/leader user that part is stays simple with #30 braid on all of them.
