  1. I try and fish both the Tues and Thurs nighters on the Hill. Will be fishing the end of year Thursday nighter Sunday after next. It's their end of year championship on Watts. Fingers crossed.
  2. Good ol Melton Hill.
  3. Never even thought to take pics. Had been in water for eight days and the rod was covered in brown slime and so was reel. Almost completly. Have some work to do. This fireman loves XCaliber rattle baits so a deal was made and he was happy happy. Me too....but the reel repair guy in Marysville number no longer works....shucks. Oh...and the rod/reel didn't move downstream....it had moved out in lake.....crazy.
  4. Was fishing with my grandson last week and he caught his first keeper bass and we were both on the front deck when one of us accidently kicked or knocked over a rod/reel that I've had for a number of years. Pretty expensive outfit and one I couldn't replace. Kind of a mood changer but I didn't blame him or myself.....just did a wow!!! Any way a friend who works at the fire dept said he would get it for me. Well....after about 20 minutes I told him to forget it and he said he wouldn't until his tank of air was gone. A few minutes later about 20 yards from where it went in he found it with his finger tips.....whoooohoooo Amazing what just one week in the lake an outfit looks like....ugh. Well, it's time to call the guy in Marysville and check him out. Fingers crossed. Tight Lines all
  5. Here's another option!!! I like the Daiwa 1300 SS with a Duckett 7' med. Reel has stood the test of time and are awesome and with larger spool cast well. They are also light. Good luck on your choice.
  6. Your gunna have critters in cali....If it were me and I HAD to live in that state I would probably pick between Clear Lake and the Delta. Somewhere close to the coast. All kinds of hunting and fishin. Oh yes....and people. P.S. Good Lord willing I never have to move out there.
  7. Well this week marks the end to the Tuesday/Thursday nighter's on the local lake. Will miss them a lot. This weekend is the fish off for the Thursday too. Going to miss all the sleep I miss fishing these things...also the camaraderie and plain BS that goes around. Guess I could get more done around the house.....NOT!!! Now it's time for more research and development. ... Tight Lines all....enjoy the Fall
  8. Was a good man....humble for the most part
  9. Lived in Oregon for 60 years and saw many changes....now live in east Tennessee. Praise God he let us move....for the most part awesome people. Haven't waved or said Hello so many times in a long time.
  10. Well it's done ... I put in some new boat seats on my Triton (2002)...not Triton seats mind you as it was out of the budget but pretty good ones. Did take the bracing off the Triton seats and put on the back of the new ones for more strength and ease of putting on. Came out ok. Now its time to wax the ol girl and armor up the seats and other stuff and get ready for fall and winter. I was using gorilla tape to mend all the places that were tearing from various reasons but in the hot weather the sticky stuff would get on your cloths. So anyway it's done and was just happy enough to post. Tight Lines all
  11. LOVE FALL.......favorite time of the year....and winter ..... due to the fact I live in Tennessee is awesome fishing time. Like he said above...coat in the morning and short sleeves later in the day.
  12. Wow....sadness. I've got 43 years and have to say its getting closer and closer. Guess I picked a good one by the grace of our good Lord. We do have family but most of them are unique in our eyes and we're glad to be living many miles away. Friday night is our date night now and we look forward to doing a couples best ball golf with a bunch of others at a local golf coarse. (she loves golf...me fishing) By God's grace I'm hoping for many more years....in fishing terms she's a keeper.
  13. We have that option of an old fashioned idea....we can read a book or play games with the family. Finding I'm watching less and less of the boob tube. Just sayin
  14. I've tried the no lines twice over the last number of years...wow....headaches and so forth. Ditched em. I used to be near sighted but since I got pancreatitus a couple years back I am now far sighted...not sure why. Anyway at 66 I will just use the reading glasses and hope my far sightedness stays pretty good. Good Luck
  15. Gosh...I've gone years with out breaking any and now this year I've destroyed two in the last two weeks. Yesterday was a flipping stick on about a 3 1/2 pound largemouth ....the other was a spinning rod on a drum. Landed the 3 1/2 yesterday which was awesome as we came in second in a small local tourney. Oh well....time to shop!!! And maybe lighted up on the hookset.
  16. Less people on the water due to school and football....whoooohooooo
  17. Wish you all...all the luck with your teams. If it's daylight and I have day off....I'M FISHIN
  18. At 66 I still enjoy fishing small tourneys like wildcats on tues and thurs along with some club tourneys thrown in. I also enjoy fishing for anything that swims and just enjoy being on the water and enjoying the good Lords gifts. The only thing I don't enjoy anymore is when other people don't use common sense or courtesy on the water or around ramps. That is trying...but oh well.....I'm still going.
  19. Have used braid exclusivly now for about five years....(with a fluro Leader) on all my rods. I personally use PP as it likes the double uni knot in all sizes. As for color I use yellow and couldn't be happier with how the line fishes.....and my spool is always full as the line lasts forever. Spinning reels get ten pound PP with anywhere from 6 to 12 pound leaders and casting reels get 15 to 30 depending on use. Love it!!
  20. I too have had issues over the years with my wrists....have had a couple surgeries , accupunture, therepy. Good days and bad days. Get a good doctor....this is HUGE.
  21. I've scratched up a couple pair of good glasses by putting on my hat...I too forget they are there....sheeesh.
