  1. What he said x 10. I have the same M-XF ET Smallmouth rod, awesome rod (Robert Riley). it is a decent all around spinning rod. I also concur that the previous Gen rod is a great value buy because it is on with the Avid in performance for me at least and cheaper.
  2. Sorry to bring this up necro post..but I got suckered once on this. The difference I noticed other than what has been posted less quality are the following: 1. The finish seems shinier on the special buy. 2. The special buy also is made in China vs Made in Korea. 3. When fishing them side by side, you can tell there is a difference..but not night and day difference. I would never buy the PQ Tournament combo ever again. For the price I could get a real PQ on sale or a better used reel like a Citica E or D. It still in my arsenal, decent reel but it is on one of my rods that i barely use.
  3. Sorry can't help either on the CBR rods. If you have any questions on the JWRs let me know.
  4. I'd use the 6' as a Spinnerbait for close quarter pin point accuracy rod and the 6'6" as a jerkbait rod.
  5. I'm still fighting through, haven't bought anything.....but it's getting real hard seeing a lot of boxing day deals! I feel I may crack soon. The Fenwick ET Smallmouth at 70 bucks looks tooooo..freaking, tempting!
  6. I like the Citica G, agree with everyone here. Solid work horse reel and can be a staple of anyone's arsenal.
  7. You are the man. Like someone said in this thread previously. We should be asking you for advice. I hope all is well with your father and a speedy recovery.
  8. If it were me I'd probably feel just as guilty and would probably go back and give them another 50 bucks at the minimum. Really, I'd only value the "reel" in that combo so another 50 would cover half retail. Especially like you say it's like new. Plus for me it's the holiday season and I'd feel like it would be the right thing to do. That being said, I wouldn't think it would be a problem either if you didn't do it...you made a deal with the lady and by giving her more than her asking...you weren't trying to be malicious and she accepted. So you were being fair as you could be at the time.
  9. Ah that is the Sail I usually go to. I haven't been there for awhile though. Going to see if I can drop by now.
  10. Yeah that is a sweet deal. Where did you get that for the price?
  11. I don't think so, I don't have that rod in that series..but I do have a Cumara 1st gen with those specs and it works fine for jerkbaits.
  12. My oldest reel now is my Curado 200B series. Kicks ass, it was one of the reels I learned to use baitcasters.
  13. Cardinal reels aren't bad, 5 bucks for the reel is a deal, plus I hear the rods are solid sticks...sounds like a steal to me. I've had them in my arsenal not long ago (2 years ago), my last one was just given this season to my brother in law. Solid reels, I just like the more higher end Shimano reels now.
  14. I don't mind if they ask me, I have no issues. If they just but in and push their way in, I don't like it.
  15. You are spot on!
  16. I've resisted since October....going on Month 3 of no tackle purchase. It. Has. Been. HARRRRRD! Though. My wife had to chain me to the house when there was a Black Friday sale at my favorite local shop. 50% of Fenwick ET Smallmouth rods.........I was salivating! Hardest internal struggle EVER! Does this mean I'm cured?
  17. In my regular rotation - Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Frogs, Flukes, Dropshot, Jerkbaits, Crankbaits, Jigs, Wacky rig...I've caught fish. This is my standard rotation. This season I've taken the skunk off my crankbaits. I tried the to introduce shaky head in my arsenal more this season, I've yet to catch one. So the shaky head at the moment is my goal for 2015.
  18. What mine is most of the time or big spinnerbaits.
  19. My two DS rods - 1. ML/XF 6'9 Shimano Crucial paired with Stradic FJ 1000, spooled with 10 lb pp/ 6lb seaguar RL I'm thinking of going 4lb next year. 2. M/F Fenwick Aetos paired with Stradic FJ 2500, same line as above.
  20. I agree with this and I own this rod,..but his assessment a worm or craw would make it a bit heavier. I'd go with the 853, for me the 852 would be more for weightless.
  21. Rods: Shimano, Fenwick, G Loomis Reels: Shimano, Daiwa, BPS I still own one St. Croix, my favorite Jerkbait rod. 6'6" M/F
