If you’re using a MH Rod I'd recommend 14# Trilene XT or 17# XT if the cover is on the heavy side. If you’re using H action rod I’d go right to 17# XT. If you’re fishing heavy vegetation 50# braid. JMHO

No trailer hooks for me. If I start seeing short strikes, I’ll adjust the bait or adjust the way that I’m fishing it.
