  1. Me too. My cats go to the door but cringe and turn back when they get hit by the cold. To make up for it, they're chasing each other all over the house.... It's also tax season, which means 'boss lady' is never home. That means two things: Spring is OTW, and I better book a good vacation for the end of April. As far as live bait, I only use it when ice fishing. To me, live bait is WAITING, not fishing.
  2. It was 7* this morning and 14* at noon. Does that mean I'm in a WARM trend?
  3. January's come and gone. I got out four times but came up empty, so my streak of catching fish in open water every month up here is shot. Since we're having a REAL winter, and we're going to get into the 30's this week, I'm going to get my ice fishing gear out of the basement. It's better than nothing. I went to the New England Fishing Expo yesterday. It was expensive.
  4. It was an expensive trip to the New England Fishing Expo yesterday. I came home with a new swimbait rod and drop-shot rod from Douglas Outdoors, a new finesse spinning rod from Fish Xtreme, a new Lews Super Duty 300, and HyperMag spinning reel. Berkshire Bass' booth had just about EVERY Megabass Vision 110 color ( @A-Jay might have emptied them out), so I picked up a GP Saffron. I also picked up a few more Beast Coast Open Water Sniper jigs I hope Spring smallmouth like. I'd like to thank @bwillis , @cadman , and @venom for buying most of my old reels. It made it easier to rationalize buying more stuff I really didn't need. Thanks again guys.
  5. I keep my 3700 boxes in Kulport totes, which are available on Amazon. I keep all my tackle in my truck and pare down to the minimum when I was @Fishing Rhino 's co-anger, with a smaller bag that would keep 3 3700s and some soft plastics.
  6. I have the Expride A. Like others, I found the handle too long for working jerkbaits. I use a Kistler 6'9" KLX for jerkbaits.
  7. Boston's expecting another 6" this weekend. The long term forecast also calls for COLD for the next couple weeks. It's starting to look like a March opening season! BOOOO!
  8. I would eat bass if I didn't live in a city with all types of markets and good restaurants.
  9. Firstly, welcome to BassResource. The membership's already given you great advice. I use 5.x:1 gear ratio for deep crankbaits (15'+) and 6.x:1 for all others. Best of luck picking out your reel.
  10. Head to the Expo this weekend. There'll be plenty of deals. Ben's Tackle Shack will be there. They have a great selection of just about everything.
  11. The New England Fishing Expo is this weekend .... I think it might be an expensive trip.
  12. It looks like ICE FISHING is on the menu until further notice.... Who's going to the New England Fishing Expo in Marlboro this weekend?
  13. I thought you were a Coastie and not Navy .... ? And, YES, it's still winter up here, to keep on this thread's trajectory...
  14. I'm a Kistler fan. Their Helium line might be what you're looking for. They're made in Texas and if you call them with questions, you have a good chance that Trey will answer the phone. Kistler's customer service is excellent too.
  15. Tony Bean's The Last Smallmouth. A hard copy is expensive, but it's readily available digitally.
  16. I use 8 pound Invisix on a couple of my spinning reels. It works very well, but I have to take the twist out of it after every trip. I also use KVD line conditioner after I untwist the line after a trip. Like others, 8# fluoro is the heaviest line I'll use on a spinning rig. @Glenn has a video around here somewhere about maintaining and untwisting line.
  17. Isn't that MAINEIAC? @Swimbaitstud - after seeing the mismatched sneakers in one of your photos ..... You're gonna fit right in here....
  18. They are, but tonight was a little sketchy. Tell the truth ... you went FISHING!
  19. Agreed, but it AIN'T over yet! Remember, they won 8 games the last two seasons COMBINED.
  20. Welcome.
  21. I also use mine for striper fishing behind my house.
