Shimano Stradic FI vs Shimano Sustain FE????
Personally I'd get the new stradic. with the extra money left over you can probably get a loomis glx rod to mount on. Unless the money is not a concern then get the new stella. To me a spinning reel of that size is really not going to make that much of a difference. I'm sure the drag of the new stradic will be smooth and will hold up just fine.

$30 reel
If it was left hand retrieve I would of bought one. Get one and try it. If you dont like it, give it to a kid. They wont know it is a $30 reel or $300. I dont think they will care either. Heck they may even learn how to outfish you in time w/ that reel.

Where's The Bass Pro Classic Sales Paper?

Rod Transportation?
I use this. I hold both rods when i'm moving under low trees. I also attach a rag on it so I can wipe my hands. Very comfortable and I dont have to worry about people stealing my rod. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0016879117243a&navCount=3&podId=0016879&parentId=cat21300&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat21300&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21300&hasJS=true I saw someone shore fishing had something like this but in addition it had 2 more fold out legs so it wont fall to the ground or you dont lay it on the ground. http://www.tote-um-gear.com/productinfo.html

How does my equipment stack up??
I think your gear will hold up just fine. You have gear that you are comfortable with and you catch bass. You are good to go. You've landed fish on them already and its worked for you. Dont worry about it and go fish them. Why are you worried about the reels not able to hold up on the bigger fishes when you should worry about hooking them?

reel handle
I am right handed and I retrieve w/ my Left hand on spinning and baitcasting because I feel my right hand is a lot stronger so I can set the hook better and control over the rod in different fishing techniques. Besides I cast w/ my right hand/arm also. Go to a tackle store put the reel that you want to look at on a rod and play w/ it for a while and see which one feels more natural to you. I do however use right hand retrieve for my conventional reels for saltwater because after setting the hook all I have to do is point up the rod a little bit and wrench in the fish.

Berkley scent vent spinner
Hey guys I know this is a bass forum but I was hoping to know if you guys think the berkley scent vent spinner baits 1/8 oz are any good? The reason I'm asking is because they are on clearance at my local walmart for $75 each.

Here are the new twins...
When I read the new twins I was thinking of a completely different set of twins Now that I see what you are talking about, I'd much rather play w/ your kind of twins ;D

proper storage of your fishing rods???
I was wondering what happens if rods are placed in vertical rod racks a/ reels mounted? What if the reels are not mounted? By hanging the by the rod tip will that cause the rod to bend? Thanks reel mech

anyone have a tank?
I hope you know you need a pretty thick acrylic right? It has to be sealed properly or else it will bust!!! Imagine if someone is standing in front of the tank when it bust? The surface where the tank is going to lay has to be almost perfectly flat or else the water pressure will bend the glass causing it to bust. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94788 What are you going to do w/ the water in the tank? do you plan to run one huge or many numerous filters? What are you going to do when algea grows on it? Its probably easier to just find someone w/ a pool and wear a snorkel as a friend is working the bait or have a water proof camera case for you to record the action in the pool.

Shiamno Stella FB 100
Dont get me wrong I would love to someday pull the trigger on the stella. Personally I just can't justify it. but if you have the money and want to reward yourself, dont let me talk you out of it. For me using a spinning reel I'd still have to pump and reel fishes in so I dont invest too much in them. My shimano Ultegra 2500 which I bought 5yrs ago is still going strong. Its around $100 back then. I have caught some nice size rays/guitar fishes off the pier and surf w/ no problem.

For that money personally I'd much rather get the new stradic 1000 and a Chronarch mg. This way you can get 2 really good reel. I'm not sure what are you planning to do w/ the 1000 size but i'm sure the stradic can handle it just as well.

Any Hud-bug fishermen out there?

Calcutta Ultra Braid?
OOOHHH!!! where did you get that deal from???? I use it on my calcutta te 401 and cardiff 301 as backing and have put topshot of pline on top of it so i can have more line capacity. I use them for both fresh water and salt. I have never had any problems w/ this line. I use the hi-vis yellow. I was actually looking for more for my other reels. On my calcutta I was actually rock fishing here off long beach in more then 200ft of water w/ no break offs.

The "Family" Just Got BIGGER
Man you are sick. Nice collection. Do you mind telling me where and how much did you get the calcutta 51 for? I was looking for one for my gf because she said "it is cute". How do you like the new stradic vs the saros? Dont you just love the new "power" handles?

What kinda rod should i buy??
Instead of a gl3, you should seriously consider the shimano crucial. they offer a over the counter warranty plus I dont think the gl2/gl3 is worth the price tag. dont get me wrong, I love loomis. Just their imx and up for bass. Maybe you should look around for deals on IMX or get the crucial.

Round BC Reels
If you want something more affordable I would look into the shimano cardiffs. I have one and its relatively light weight. I dont know about the regular calcuttas because for the price I'd much rather go w/ the Daiwa lunas because of the solid aluminum frame. The calcutta te are really nice. I have the 401 and it is pretty tough. The HEG are nice. but for the price, I think looking back I would get a daiwa luna instead. Let us know what you decide.

What's the strangest thing you've caught on the end of your line?
Saltwater---> sea stars, and crabs too. Freshwater---> BAT!!!! not the ones you swing to hit a ball. a real bat. It looked like a wet rat. It was nasty. i had a crappie jig head on a trout setup w/ 4lb test at night. cast it....didn't hear or see a splash. then I started to reel in the line and i felt like i was draging something and it was a bat that got caught/tangled on the line. Seeing how bass like to eat live bait, I cast it into the lake and it was making some splashes on top of the water but no takers. :

Cardiff okay for saltwater use?
Why is that reelmech? I thought they all had ARB's? I also use my 301 for the salt and its been so good so far.

Favorite rod brand??
G loomis IMX series. That is just because I do not have the GLX yet. Even their saltwater rods are great. lightweight, strong backbone, and sensitive. Can't wait to get a custom made one someday.

Poll- favorite reel brand
I have a daiwa alphas ito which was my first baitcaster thanks to some of the recommendations from some of the fellow members. I like it a lot. That being said shimano has taken care of of me as a customer above and beyond what I expected. I bought a Calcutta te from ebay new but when I received the reel, one of the handle nobs were bent slightly and so I took it to their service center/headquarters at irvine ca and told them and ask how much it cost to replace the handle and they ask to see my reel and told me to that he will be back. a few mins later he brought my reel back to said here and handed it to me. He replaced the handle for me. I asked him how much would it cost and he said free. I was in shocked and walked out of the service center w/ a big grin. I use it for stripe bass and fishing off the 3/4 day boats off Long beach and redondo beach landings in the saltwater and after the season I brought the reel in for service and they changed 2 ball bearings and some other part in it. the cost was $25. but the TE came w/ the 50% discount for service/cleaning so they charged me only $12. they did not charge for the bearings, just to clean and service. And dont start knocking on the reel and say if it was this brand or that brand you wouldn't need to have those bearings replaced. I was one of those who bought the TD Z from cabelas sale and I returned the reels to daiwa service center because the casting button didn't feel normal. They took care of me too. They replace 2 bearings on one of the reel for free and took care of all the problems because I had not even put line on it yet. I guess it was sitting on the shelfs too long? That was when shimano really had me hooked. I can fish my reels w/ confidence that if I any thing goes wrong w/ my reels, I can bring it back and they will fix it to make it like new. Last week I bought a used torium 16 and so not knowing what condition it was internally, I bought it in for service and cleaning. I dont know how that one is going to turn out but I also brought in my cardiff which I lost the receipt after I had purchased it so I didn't send in the warrantee and it was only 6 months old. I had gotten the line caught somewhere near the worm gear (my fault, I was trying to fix the birds nests) then I try to engage teh casting button but something came loose. the button wouldn't work so I bought it in and ask if they will cover it under warranty. They said no :'(. The service tech guy ask to see my reel and aftet handing my reel to him he took it to the back for a few mins and came back trying the casting button and reeling for a few times. Well he fixed it for me and I ask how much for the service. he said free, dont worry about it. we will call you when the torium is ready. i said thanks and walked out. I am going to be a shimano customer for life. I am open minded about other reels because along w/ my purchase of the shimano torium, I had also purchased an Avet. The bait monkey hit me really hard this year :
