  1. Fantastic. Is that river behind you
  2. I love cold weather, cold water fishing.I recently started using Seaguar 100% fluoro,6 lb test for light lures. Light means 1/16 and sometimes less.I cast hair jigs for crappies and perch a lot. Can`t stand floats. This line seems to behave real well so far for distance and poor memory. Sometimes with other lines I had to stretch them before fishing. Tie off and walk off twice the line I would normally cast and pull it taunt and hold. What is your line for winter. C22
  3. 1/2/16 I had to get out of the poor tide water catching to hit a local pond. Right move. I have become a jerk freak. Don`t want to do anything else. I used to jig most of the time, but no more. The cool change in the wx produced lots of bumps and short strikes, about 1/2 the action. 2 hrs saw 10 lmb, several pickerel with a coupla hogs there and a few yellows. Stained 49 deg water had them in a good mood. Coupla chasers= I have to learn to stop the bait just before it comes into sight. One pickerel had a noticeable gut bulge that equated to a bluegill or crappie and still feeding. I have seen that a lot
  4. Time heals all,give it a chance.
  5. For me it is good bye, good riddance 15. Aside from a small flurry in late Nov and a good Dec it was overall a poor year of catching for me. The winter freeze out and extreme summer heat + some family problems would have me rate the year at about 25% overall average. Hope everyone had a better year than I did. How did you do? C22
  6. One last time. 2-1/2 hrs resulted in a quadfectra. Crappie, lmb, pickerel and yellow perch. Almost 20 fish on jerks.I have been thumping this water and the fish were tired of the larger jerks ,so I downsized to a Rap Huskey Jerk HJ 06 =2-1/2" silver. 2 lmb about 2-1/4 liked it as did the yellows. A pickerel took it from me and that ended the catching. The last hour realized dead calm and quiet. Nice end to the season. C22
  7. WTG on the finale. Its what keeps us coming back.
  8. Out today for about 3 hrs.1st hr was filled with technical difficulties. Return to ramp for boat repair, rod line probs, broken knots, short hits.I managed to shed the two extra thumbs I was sporting and things got better. Last two hrs turned stellar because of a mini front that rolled thru.About a dozen lmb nothing large,,several pickerel + numerous short hits [probably crappies] did catch 2 of them.I had 3 fish chase the lure to the surface right at the boat. They are feeding good when they do that. The 3.5" Diawa td jerk has been "the" lure lately. C22 Correction=Diawa DB====not TD,they are different
  9. The jerks cooled off today because of the weather. I tormented several nice crappies[5] ,12" to 13"with a 65 pointer LC bluegill color. Coupla more slammed a 1/16 crawdaddy lookin hair jig .Don`t need braid to feel those hits. I did catch 3 lmb on jerks but they just came on as weight,no real hit. Also turned a nice one over that didn`t want to commit. Not bad for 2 hrs on the water. Lovin the cool breeze in my face. C22
  10. Sweet catch. Nice when you don`t have to chop holes to catch fish
  11. Well today was one for the books as they say. From the beginning, yesterday I put on a new to me trolling motor on the 12' tin boat.It is an old Evinrude with the offset shaft.Love those units as I have used them before. I could not wait to try it out, so off I go to a nice little pond an hour away. The cross wind on the highway was fierce. I cleared a wooded area and the truck lurched about 3' sideways and the trailer began fishtailing several cycles @ 60 mph. That was my cue that a problem was happening. I ignored it until about 5 miles later until a trailer bearing was screaming bloody murder.I limped on to the ramp where it was safe to assess the damage. Be prepared== I had everything needed except a seal to make a quick repair. Fortunately the spindle survived fairly well.35/40 minutes it was road worthy to get home, but not before I wet the new motor. It worked very well even straight into a 20 mph wind. Very pleased with it. I did catch about 6 pickerel,2 lmb just shy of 3 pounds and 2 yellow perch, all on jerks. The wind picked up even more, the sky got really dark, low and rain poured like the hammers of haties.I continued to fish until the boomers began. I just smiled and thought OK,OK I`ll leave. Having mechanical problems on Christmas eve afternoon could have made for a bad day ,had I not been prepared. btw it is a utility trailer that don`t use much and this one caught me off guard. All said today was a good Christmas gift. C22
  12. I was doing my usual routine on a local pond with hair jigs ,LC`s and the likes for about an hour with the usual results of pickerel and yellow perch. So I went shopping in the jerk box and put on a virgin Diawa prism bait. Big mistake leaving it "on the bench" since it was new. Within the the next hour& half I bagged 5 lmb that would go about 22 pounds. Two honest 5`s were landed along with two pickerel about 24" liked the looks of it too. There was a strong SW wind, heavy cloud overcast with clear water temps @ 46 deg.. Apparently it all came together between noon & one . Iv`e seen it happen there before but not with such good weight. Of course now the Bait Monkey had a choke hold on me so I went home and placed a $50. order. Wow ,what a day! C22
  13. So what happened==repair==refurbed ==replaced?
  14. I fish stripers quite a bit here on the coast. I use 7'6" Star Rods rated 1/2 to 2-1/2 oz. Pflueger[salt rated] spinning reels of the 70 & 80 series with 30 to 50lb braid & always with a leader of the same sizes. I cast bucktails from 1 to 3 oz a lot. Stripers up to 40 lbs have seen their demise with my setups. If you plan to troll, there goes another thousand. If you want to chunk bait, maybe opt for a baitrunner reel. C22
  15. How much are you guys paying for Sirius . I don`t use the car enough to spend the money. C22

  17. 69 deg at 3 am this morn. Only put on the big boys pants a few times so far.
  18. Nope,no icin. can only hit the hole one outta 10 when I cast .
  19. I belong to a salt fly club, but do very little of it. Just a nice bunch to hang with in the winter. I do catch some bluegills on the fly around June each year. C22
  20. Wild boar maybe? That would be "PIGFOOT"
  21. It sounds like a dry motor bearing or bushing .If so, get some lube in them before a new motor install. Its worth a try. Just my 2cents
  22. Diversity is the spice of life====no wait====ah never mind.If that's what you want, try dividing your time and money between salt and fresh. Yesterday I was tossing a 1/16 oz hair jig beatin up on the crappies in 12/15' depths, and today I was throwing a 3 once bucktail at stripers in 10 to 50' depths. of moving tide water.I got a real clean 30" striper that will result in a killer surf/turf dinner tomorrow eve. I couldn`t leave good enough alone so I went to a local pond to catch some perch and pickerel, one of which took a LC jerk away from me. Oh well I give them more grief than they do me. Don`t even want to get into the expense side of fishing salt and fresh angling. C22
  23. Slumping sales may bring change to Cabelas as Darrens link indicated More http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/cabelas-weighs-deal-amid-slumping-sales/ar-AAfWiTD?ocid=spartandhp
  24. My cable shows are gone too. What breaks my knot is that they always show them on Saturdays, when most people are out fishing. No wonder they don`t have an audience. C22
