Yes....$19....but, still....that reel for $119 shipped is still awfully tempting I'd been waiting for BPS to close out KVD Smoke reels....and hoped they'd be that price. (Appears they sold out without discounting, however.) This looks to be a better reel and hard to pass up

+1 My wife is also a photographer, and she also uses a Coolpix when we're fishing or hiking and heavy rain is likely.

Parks and ramps in Northern VA are being closed....more each day; 'state lakes' are currently planning to stay open. I get that some staff has been reduced or told to stay home, but the local park system is even closing unmanned ramps and kayak launches....go figure that out

@RichF, I've been out there probably four or five times this year. No more than three bass total to show for it. I haven't learned to compete when the shad get so thick that you can snag one every other cast. I'd be interested to hear if anyone is getting out at Lake Ridge. Nova Parks has closed up BRM. (And ORP, so probably Fountainhead and Pohick, as well.) I might understand if they staffed those ramps, but most are open when not staffed. Seems crazy to shut 'em down -- especially hand launch sites. What could be more socially distancing than solo kayak fishing?

It isn't too early. I went out in the yak for several hours last Friday. Used sunscreen, but didn't even think about the giant hole in the thigh of my jeans....got a nice bright red spot, though nothing too bad. Lucky. Assuming you find ramps open...(and soft water), don't forget the sunscreen....even in mid March.

100% joking....never considered throwing chatterbait that wasn't white/chart, or dark blue/black. I guess I did have a green-brown one many years ago, but it never got a bite. Just found the whole fire craw craze humorous.....I saw people offering toilet paper for them....HA

I can stop looking for fire craw Jackhammers. Tournament postponed until first week of November.

Varies greatly. Not just state by state, but even county by county. I think that most common here is: -car-top launch fee, $5-15; typically not same ramp as trailered craft; quite often an area separate from main ramp(s) -ramp fee, $10-25; typically any trailer - kayak, boat, jet ski -some places have separate specific kayak and/or jet ski ramps/beaches/launches with separate, specified fees Most have honor box to collect fees when not manned. Instructions/rules should be clear...aren't always, though

Every time I get new electronics, I have this excitement about the revolutionary upgrade I expect. I'm afraid that nothing I've seen or owned (Lowrances, Hbird and Garmin) below $1000 wows me as much as I wanted to be. You're not going to get to that 'wow tier' under 1K, IMO, but you should consider getting a unit that can upgrade down the road to something game-changing for you....spotlock, or 360, or Live or something. Getting touch-screen is the closest thing I've upgraded to that came close to meeting my anticipation excitement

I agree. I got my first one last year when I got a Hobie. I use it still, but it is a PITA. I can't take my yak between truck and launch loaded. With my old yak/cart, I could load at the truck and cart down to the launch. Not a big deal when ramp/launch is slow and I can park truck reasonably close. But at a long, busy ramp, or at a mass-launch tournament, there's no good answer with a scupper cart.

Mine has loops on the front strap - slide the rod tips in, even with sleeves on. Velcro on the rear strap. Putting velcro around a handle right at the back of the SUV takes all of about 3 seconds...and yet, I don't do them all -- the ones on the ends and maybe two nearer the middle -- just to keep them from all piling up in the middle

Got a pair from Amazon about 4 years ago. Still use them in my Durango today. I keep about from 10 to 20 rods in my car year round and the straps have been great.

No idea. But, you'll have to balance any benefit against reduced line capacity. 100/8 sounds like a lot until you retie over a few trips and start seeing the spool through your line.
