I've started a petition to change Virginia laws to require that only fishermen and women be allowed to own lakefront property. Senko, ned rig, shakey head, trig and other worms....

I like Biffles, primarily because they get hung up less than others I've tried. Not sure if it's the line tie angle or the shape, or what...but I can bring them through some nasty cover or lure-eating rock fairly well.

Probably a nice reel. I have owned one AG and it was fine. I bought two Quantum Smokes for that price last night. Love my Smokes. I'd also probably get another Tatula before I buy another AG.

The lures you will be using, the environment that you'll be fishing, the fish you will be targeting....all much more important than what your rod says. Especially since the listed # range is confusing when someone unfamiliar wants to use 30# braid, but the rod says 8-15# line.

I think it is time that rod manufacturers stopped putting line test ranges on rods.

Thanks. Hope it works for you. I still don't see any value at all for me. In fact, I'm not even certain I could pull all that tight without a pliers.

I'm having trouble....trouble envisioning it, trouble figuring out why....trouble imagining tying a knot that goes through the eye more times than a palomar already does with aging eyes and hands. Palomar knots with slicker 'n snot 12# Gliss don't slip, so I've never wanted for something more complicated

Recently started using @Siebert Outdoors Spearheads with great results.

Never got comfortable with 10# on baitcasting reel for anything other than jerk baits...wispy, knotty and more important, invisible (I only tried moss green in 10)

I have more than one each of Type R, CT-R and 100's with me all the time. I'm oblivious to the size difference and even more so to the colors. Except for the IPT's, I'm completely unaware which is in my hand at any time.

I use 20# PP for that application. I admit, though, that I almost always start with 1/8 weighted swimbait hook with Rage Bug before I switch to light jig on that set up. Many days I never get to the jig and just stick with the Rage Rig. 20 is plenty for getting them out of the mess and then into the boat. 40 works, but 20 just seems a better to work with...accuracy and distance suffer a little with 40 when using lighter lures

May well be true. However, manufacturers aren't doing any of us any favors by being coy about what's different. Even the Seaguar site doesn't say much about how the blue leader is any different from their other fluoro's. It does say double something or other...same description as Tatsu. Berkley leader doesn't even try to convince you its different...just smaller spools of Trilene. I haven't found a single one that makes an honest attempt to explain that the leader is different/better than their other flouros. They could be, but I am not yet convinced of the need to spend 10-20 times cost of the flouro and copoly that I already have on hand.

If I had to kill all snakehead catches....some days you could find me by following dead snakeheads floating like breadcrumbs. There's days I can't keep them off. I did try some punching last weekend, but no joy. Admittedly, I didn't have the patience to stick with it for all too long. My brain gets in my way when fishing all too often. Knowing the way the Potomac bass in an area can clear out or turn off at the drop of a hat, I have trouble sticking with techniques that I don't enjoy or seem like work if I don't get bit pretty quick. If I don't get hit in a patch of grass pretty quick, I'd rather move a few yards and throw a trap, or chatterbait, than work the patch throroughly.

Yes......but as a lifetime fence sitter, I also disagree when a fisherman (other than someone as studious as @Paul Roberts, of course) says he knows what a bass thinks (or sees... or smells.... or feels....or likes....or tastes...)

Has not happened to me. However, if you fish in a kayak much, you've already considered that it is a possibility.

LOL...right....I take more than that when I walk from the car 20 feet to the bank. $25 for another checked bag seems a small price to pay sometimes

I'm with @flyfisher and @J Francho. You are going to pay a premium for Thule and Yakima, but the durability, ease of use and peace of mind are well worth the up front cost. I went with cheaper options on one of two cars the first few years and had to replace everything (feet, cross bars, racks, straps) within three years. Wife's car got Thule from the start and everything is nearly as good as new. I have had Malone j-bars and they are pretty decent, but I don't know enough about the rest of Malone's product line. I know they're somewhat well regarded. But, I worry a lot with every new cartop configuration and that worry goes away pretty quick once you're strapped onto Thule stuff.

I can't remember the last time I made impulse buy of a bass lure based purely because it looked cool. And never have I tried an unproven lure in a tourny....but headed out this weekend to kill 'em. How can it not?

Spent more time this summer learning to work the grass flats, but it seems so hard to predict. I have gotten pretty confident working above and along the grass. But I feel I'm missing something by not being down in it. Couple weeks ago, I had a bass on a donkey leash as I was getting measuring board and camera ready. I was in about 24 inches of water, with grass up to about 6 inches from the surface. He disappeared immediately and effortlessly into the grass that looked almost solid. I plan to try to get stuff on the bottom in the grass this weekend, but not too confident about whether I'll be able to work lures through or just vertically punching.

Good points, all. When offered help to carry out, I decline, but I can easily see myself thinking, "Sure. I'll give you a break from the monotony at the checkout and an opportunity to earn a few extra bucks for 5 minutes of your time."
