I always carry a scale in the boat. But everyone I kayak with always measures on bump board. I assume that's because kayak tournaments go by length. Pics on a board in lap clearly demonstrate size, too....more easily than hanging on a scale, which can be challenging in a yak

Even if you aren't following the 'Charlie Brewer' methods, his Slider terminal tackle is great for a lot of finesse presentations.

I've taken canoes and kayaks out from there, but never waded. It certainly does get crowded on weekends since it is one of the primary float access points on South Fork. I guess that doesn't help you much...sorry. If I was going to a primary launch to wade, I'd probably go to State Park or Low Water Bridge. I've seen people wading a good ways out from each of those. I don't know how to get to it from shore, but there's a spot in the SP where tubes take out - quite a bit up from the launch; there's great wade-fishing from there....we stop there some times and have had good luck.

Killed them yesterday 'finesse punching' non-matted hydrilla. I was using 1/8 and 1/16 mojo cylinder weight with trick worm. Cast up with a little bit of arc and let come down straight through the thick-looking hydrilla. Worm glides right through to the bottom and the 'invisible bass' on the bottom, under the weeds, rarely let the worm settle. I had spent an hour or so trying to glide stuff cross the tops with no luck. Punching straight down was the ticket.

No question. However, from a yak, I all too often find myself casting back over my shoulder around a rod holder between two branches and up under a bush....at an angle that two hands just don't get me there.

Back when I played at golf, the resulting two shots described, all too often ended up looking the same.

I fish from a kayak most of the time and the majority of my casts are side arm and/or roll-casts or something in between. I rarely am considering distance to be of great importance; however, if throwing deep cranks, or deep/heavy c-rigs (and sometimes lipless....just because I can ), I will often cast overhead and try to bomb it. I just don't have confidence in feeling bites or getting hooksets on what I consider to be long casts. BTW, I have been working on backhand and one-handed casts, but my confidence is firmly and solely with two handed casting.

Above is all good advice...however, there are plenty of days when the best will be a white chatterbait....and sometimes its a swim jig....and then some days it will be a crank pulled well under the school....and....now that I think about it, sometimes it will be a popper tossed right in the middle of the school..try it with small twitches as opposed to big pops....good luck

I really wanted to love PT plastics...but honestly, everything I've tried (worms, tubes, trig-jig, craws, hammers...) has been something of a disappointment...I guess disappointment be a little strong....but, I like alternative brands for everything I've tried of theirs

I have a few...by far the best one for me is the full (regular?) size in clear. Looks like a gimmick at first, but it is my best producer.

Or any musky water, for that matter...I grew up in Wisconsin and know a LOT of guys who spend their whole lives fishing for that fish.

Pretty sure that I've never gotten a bite on a brush hog....baby brush hogs, absolutely.....but not the full size. ..... It could be the way I fish them due to lack of confidence....I don't know. But, I have had similar results with other large creature baits, other than lizards....like RI Kinky's or other 5+ beavers and hogs. Good luck. After the rubber got hard or fell off, my father would shred those fat rubber bands and use bread bag ties to hold them on...if he was feeling creative, he'd take a magic marker to a few of the strands.
