I have polarized sunglasses from Oakley, Onus, Costa, and generic. All help me see below the surface better than the naked eye. None are the X-Ray Specs that some writers might have you think. Off-colored water (even slightly) makes the difference less pronounced.

I'm sure Neuse and Trent above New Bern can be great. But aside from the brackishness, you have the added pressure of a massive variable added in: tides, not to mention the current. Working on smaller still waters will allow you to remove some big variables and gain confidence. BTW, those Rage Bugs can do triple (quadruple?) duty for you, trailer for jig and chatterbait, swimming, dragged, etc. When you restock, try, GP, and Watermelon....for some reason, that blue in Okeechobee, Blue Craw and Moon Juice don't do much for me in VA and NC.

I use both, but prefer the boat, generally. But the Hobie is perfect for most rivers, and on reservoirs under about 500 acres, though I have fished it on massive lakes just fine. This is what I was thinking. Maybe the issue was more about your choices of where to fish that lake, than about the vessel. I wonder how many 7 lb bass you drove past yesterday...

No clue. Never measured it, nor did sided by side comparisons. I use 18# Gliss and it is far thinner than anything else I've used around that test. Gliss spool says 18# is .006 in and .14mm. Spro finesse 16# spool says .22mm. I won't vouch for any of the numbers....just saying it seems thin to me.

Or do it while in the drink. I watched a couple guys testing props in their boat last fall while I fished. They did four or five changes in the middle of the lake...

If you do a search here you should find a few threads with Gliss reviews. Most didn't like it much. I still use it on some spinning reels. It is super thin and very smooth (new), so it will cast better than anything close to its rated strength. It is not abrasion resistant at all, and can start fraying after contact with abrasive surfaces. So, if I am using it around wood or sharper rock, I use a leader. Leaders present another challenge only because Gliss is so slick - a finishing overhand knot can prevent a leader knot from pulling out. So...fairly cheap, best castability, very strong, high visibility, good sensitivity...but low abrasion resistance and frays easily

Was not trying to be a smart donkey. I just know how it is when people claim scale-less weights on the interwebs. It has been years since my estimate was off by more than a half pound, so I am confident saying those second two pics were 6+. I caught a 6.4 yesterday that was comparable. (My friend was struggling in the back, so I tried to tamper my excitement a bit and didn't have him take a pic 🙃. )

Had a few minutes after dinner last night to go down to the dock and prep some tackle in the boat for this weekend. I'm thinking the white Rage Bug will be the ticket....at least it was for 20 minutes here in my cove....these were just from the dock

I blame Livescope They did have some not bass management too long ago. They tried to manage bass right out of the Delta to protect salmon.

We've caught Bruno with his nose in the bowl we put out for the barn cats, but I never thought about using it as a treat. Great idea

In the 60s, my dad and grandfather generally used baitcasting gear to target bass, and spinning gear for walleye and panfish. I think it was more about the lure/bait than the fish/cover. When they wanted bass, they were throwing Creek Chubs, 4 inch fat prop baits, Deep bombers, and Bass O'Renos. Vice light jigs, minnows, crawlers, 1/4 oz spoons, Lazy Ike, etc.

Cowboys odds must simply be propped up by having lots of unrealistic fans willing to part with their cash. No way you can convince me that they have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl than 27 other teams. Maybe ahead of Raiders, Cardinals, Pats, Commanders, Panthers and Bears....another 6 or 8 I'd say wash ....but probably 15-18 teams I would bet on before Dallas. I do sorta enjoy that Dak looked good enough for a while that they are willing to put full faith in him once again. The ratcheted up disappointment is going to be fun

So cool....two teams that few people projected to go .500 last season. Suddenly, even fewer will be surprised if they are playing in late Jan, or even Feb next year.
