I've listened to just a couple episodes of Big Bass Podcast and will do more. Very different than others. Couple guys tell history of monster bass catches, records, etc. I tried Bass Edge, and wanted to like it, but the sound was so bad, I couldn't understand anything. Maybe I should try another episode. I listen to Mercer when there's a guest I think might interest me. BTL most episodes. Planet Money and Hidden Brain when the summary piques my interest....Around the NFL for another couple weeks, anyway.

Not really a beaver, but the tiny Crazy Flapper get ate up in the Shenandoah. I can't get a LMB to touch any size, but the little ones bouncing down the river on an Owner Ultrahead will get bit.

I like JJs Magic a lot, but I don't take it in the boat. Kayak or Jon boat, I do. But, now I just dip baits at home and let them dry before taking them in the boat.

This was a difficult lesson for me. Bass move. Sometimes they move a lot. It isn't all that hard to understand when you can tell from surface activity. Other times (like slick/quiet or good chop) it isn't obvious. It was only after last couple years of fishing for hours and hours from a dock that I began to appreciate how often fish can move in and out of a smallish area. In a boat or yak, it isn't as apparent, or maybe as significant because I am always moving to the fish...or trying to. The fact that active fish are moving in and out isn't as noticeable. The lesson is reinforced by watching FFS'ers cover hundreds of yards of open water in fairly short period, chasing same fish Mr. Blauket approves

Drop something flappy onto hard cover, or right alongside...like touching it. Some days in the Yoohoo, you literally have to hit them on the head while they are very tight to cover.

Great thread. Thank you @NorthernBasser. I like the neoprene better most of the time. Rainy days are the exception. They take forever to dry out

Could not get halfway through that video. Two rivets, lead wire, 1 hook cut in half, a treble, multiple ties.... did he suggest that is something he actually rigs and uses on the water? Jig head or swimbait hook are fine, IMO

I've probably caught more fish on War Eagles than any other. High confidence bait. However, they are the most fragile spinnerbait I've used. I use Stanley more than most now. They catch fish and are very durable. I do use Nichols more when I want to throw a big Colorado.

Many years ago, I was working a bluff wall, boat in 25 FOW, a short cast off the wall. A boat was working behind me, going in the same direction. I noticed the back seater making casts out towards the middle of the lake every so often, and he caught a couple good bass over deep water in just a short stretch of wall. Really surprised me. Ever since, I make it a point to cast away from the bank every so often. It can be particularly effective opposite pockets, or approaching points.

What app are you using? I am disappointed that Google Podcast is going away. I have test driven YouTube Music for a couple weeks and it is bad...at least for me. I have used Amazon Music, Pocket Cast, Podbean, and some I have forgotten, but have not tried any that cost $$. Maybe I was just used to it, but Google Podcast did everything I needed and did it well. YT does those same things poorly. I don't care about importing anything, just an easy, clean interface that runs well in background and remembers where I pause and what I've completed. Clean front end would be nice, too. One thing from Google that I will really miss, if I can't get it in new app is the android ability to pull down home screen and pause, FF, or Rewind. Very helpful when driving. Most podcast apps don't do that from the background.
