  1. Anyone know what that "line diameter measuring tool" is? Is it just a micrometer, or is there a more specialized too for that?
  2. Easily my favorite pro fisherman. I agree with what he says. I'll be sorry to see him go.
  3. I have read probably hundreds, if not thousands, of posts on BR and don't recall ever hearing of that one....going to look it up
  4. "Jet drive engines, surface drive engines and tunnel hull boats are not allowed during both official practice and competition. Any boat/hull designs other than standard mass-produced units are only allowed at the discretion of tournament officials." From 2024 B.A.S.S Angler Participation Agreement
  5. We found big pile of dog food in oven drawer last week, with more stuffed in the floor cracks behind the oven.. Placed a mouse trap and no more than 20 minutes after we all left the room, we heard the trap slam in that metal drawer. However, after five days, the other trap is undisturbed. I don't believe for a second there was only one mouse. But might there have only been one breadwinner, scavenging the dog food? Should we take any other actions? Or wait until we see evidence of more mice?
  6. I predict they limit number of transducers to 2 maybe 3. The screen insanity will likely subside naturally. Welcome to BR, Randy. jk Not the majority by any stretch... clearly a few veterans of the highest ranks are being lapped in the tech aspects. But most recognized long before this season that in-depth knowledge of cutting edge sonar is critical to their success.
  7. Sort of...but mostly bs. Convenience fee, my rear end...who's convenience? Dollar to a donut, that government agency saves a ton more than that card fee by not handling checks, answering phones, reconciling with those hundreds of tackle shops, etc.
  8. Sporting goods stores and tackle shops were selling licenses without a 'little fee' for a hundred years. What they get in 'extra sales' from people coming in to buy a license is more than making up for 5 minutes of that clerk's time. I don't see this as Log Catcher looking for a free lunch. That is the one fee that does tick me off
  9. I'm reluctant to draw too sharp a comparison between one tournament in February and another in April
  10. I am unfamiliar with any details. However, I doubt they save college football for me. Today's portal situation has destroyed the game for me. Impossible for me to get behind my team, nevermind follow any other teams, when I cannot foolow players from one year to the next. I went to Wisconsin and I didn't like it when Russ came in for a year (taking some else's scholarship), even though he took us to a Rose Bowl. The revolving door now makes my head spin. Maybe one transfer in year one or two of eligibility...maybe I could get behind?
  11. I contacted my boat manufacturer, motor manufacturer and boat dealer. None would say 'don't bother'. However none said I needed one, either.
  12. I so very much hate changing hooks, that I rarely do it except in the case of rusty or bent hooks. I have next to no dexterity and changing a pair of trebles can take me 20 minutes. I am floored that some guys actually do it on the fly...in the boat. I have tried no less than five different split ring pliers, including the Texas ones. It is not the tool...it is the tool holding the tool. I don't question the value of changing hooks out. But I won't do it if I don't have to. (I also admit to a deep seated angst about changing hooks on a brand new 10 or 20 dollar lure.) I sharpen hooks regularly, but that's about it.
  13. I fish a lot of water with wood.... when I am dragging the bottom and hit wood, my eyes light up. I am very focused trying to visualize whether it is a brush pile, a log, standing timber, underwater laydown, etc. Even a small branch can have bass oriented to it. Same with rocks in some areas. Focusing on the bottom contact is also critical around drop offs and ledges... it is easy to launch off a ledge and miss the money spots close to the wall if you aren't careful and paying attention when you come to the edge. When I hit a pad stem or I hang slightly on a weed, I pause and carefully work around through or over. Deflections of all sorts can trigger strikes.
  14. They are moving up. Surface temps 46. Last week they were all 12-15. This morning everything eating was 4-10 FOW. Blade bait and finesse jig got smaller ones. Biggest were on slow hopping Rage Bug.
  15. Sweet! Buying waterfront property is one of the best things I have ever done. Enjoy!!
  16. I have 130s in bone, loon and two that are mostly clear. I have 90s and 70s in light colors. I have never had even a sniff on the smaller ones. And I have caught exactly two bass on the 130s. I still toss them once in a while, but they are pretty low on my confidence scale.

  21. Haven't used any that I could swap out hooks. - Biffle Hard Head - best all around that Ive used - Trokar Swing - nearly as good as Biffle - Strike King - these tend to get hung more than two above -Z-Man finesse size - good for elaztech If you want to change hooks, @A-Jay has recommended Freedom Tackle a number of times, though I have yet to try them
  22. I convinced myself that MegaStrike makes fish hold on longer. Not convinced they are 'attracted', or that it coaxed bites out of fish that wouldn't otherwise. My 'evidence' came from my observation that I lose a lot more claws and tails from soft plastics when I use MegaStrike. Likely bluegills, but I've decided it is because they hang on longer due to the goo... and bass might, also.
