Sorry, but it depends. And it is relative. Lousy answers, I know. Buy the fact is that bass don't have strict rules and limits. It would be nice to have some solid guidelines, but I don't think they exist. Every fish is different. Every depth transition is different; every bit of structure and cover near/on transitions is different. The same bass relating to a 2' transition in a featureless, rather flat pocket might prefer a dock end pylon set in 19FOW on the same lake. Now, I admit that I do start to make my own rules/guidelines as I become more familiar with a lake, or area of a lake. One lake arm, I like to see 12+ FOW within maybe 10-15 yards. Same lake, I might be looking for 20'+ under laydown crowns. Areas of local tidal Potomac have 1000's of acres that aren't more than 8' at high tide...anything within 50 yards of a kiddie pool size depression might be worth examining.

Hopefully, that means some people will choose not to clog my route for a while...especially this weekend. I am probably 150 miles from that spot, but I am hopeful. Thank you. That's the issue I have with Onos. I know know others have better outcomes. But I mistreat my glasses and want a pair that will withstand a pretty good beating. I fondly recall a pair of Oakleys I had maybe16 years ago that would tolerate tons of abuse and always looked and performed like new. I still remember the golf course and hole where I think I lost them. No plastic lens sunglasses I have had since measured up....Still searching

I have amber and gray...and I like both equally. My challenge has been getting polarized readers that I love, and that last. I have 2nd pair of Onos, which are great new, but neither lasted well. Best I've had were cheapie from a pop-up store outside local BX several years ago. $40 with lifetime guarantee. Same stand showed up for several years. I'd pay the $10 warranty fee each year and get new ones. But that gal retired and now I'm shopping again. I may try Shady Ray's next. If anyone has experience with them, let me know.

Barbell collar?

This seems to be an overlooked part of the discussion. A 'stiff' or thick plastic on a screwlock shakyhead fished on 10# or less FC has the potential to be disappointing. I will say that the Siebert Zenith is one exception, since the gap is good, the wire is light enough, and the point angle works well. I also use MegaStrike (screwlock) heads, but only with heavier line/leader

I like the Tokyo Rig, also. It fishes better around brush for me. For points, I tend to prefer the swing head, just because having the line tied to the weight gives me better bottom feedback, I think.

Time to figure out what works for you. I say stop buying. Unless you run out of something you find that you love. You will spend years giving that many different lures an honest chance

I use 11/16 and 3/4 the most (though I did buy some lighter ones to try this year). I throw the heavy ones on a 7'4" MHF Helium, 40# braid with 15# leader, almost always with a Magnum Rage Bug. I tried a few different wobble heads, including tungsten, but I have gone back to the original, Biffle Hard Head. The hook ups are better and the bottom feedback is as good as tungsten.

I still use it. Usually with a leader. I tried it in Ontario and it was a disaster there. They got a lot sharper rocks than we do in VA/NC. I can cast a senko about 650 yards with 18# Gliss...lol....thin and sensitive...not the most abrasion resistant, but I do skip docks with it. I have a couple spinning reels that are going on 3rd or 4th year of same spool of Gliss.
