@Mobasser, maybe the tree toxins are like wasp stings, where the second and subsequent exposures can be worse than the first. I got stung a couple weeks ago and it was far worse than any stings I ever got as a kid. Not sure if it was my aging nervous system or some cumulative effect

I am not good about loosening drags during prolonged non-use. But I'm worse about not checking the drag before each use. A few outings every season, I miss day's first bite because drag is too loose. I feel the same way. But then I tell myself that it's the worst time to try something new because the bite is off, I won't catch anything and I'll never try that lure again. I suppose a hot bite is best time to try something new....but I will be the last one to stop throwing something that is working....no good answers once I start over thinking

I bought one years ago thinking it a thoughtful gift for fishing trips. Apparently, I was wrong. Never was used. I still keep one eye out for places on the bank .....for future reference.

I remember when Erie caught fire. I believe the Clean Water Act wasn't too long after. @gimruisis correct that cities and counties got a lot more responsible. I grew up in Milwaukee - I was in High School when Illinois sued Milwaukee and as a result, they built a massive tunnel system underground so wastewater didn't backup into Lake Michigan every time it drizzled. I'm sure all the bih cities around the Great Lakes made similar investments.

I rigged up 4# fluoro for the kids to fish for bluegills. Turns out small fish nip at the line just like they do 17#. Line visibility is not among the variables I consider when making choices for bass fishing. The fish can see the line. If it's 80# high viz yellow or 2# bluegreenclear mono with a reflectfract index of .0002 microwhatevers in turbid water....fish can probably still see the line. Do they care? I am not at all convinced they do.

No question. I got on a mission to master swim jigs late last year. I think I was watching a pro tourny day...probably an old DVR'd MLF day....and a couple guys were tearing them up with swim jigs Anyway, I realized that was a hole in my tool kit and I set out to fix it. I've gotten a couple decent fish using swim jigs since. But I am not at all convinced that I wouldn't have done as well or better using something else. Maybe bladed jig. But a small swimbait or swimming worm or Rage Bug all seem better choices...for me.

I'm the opposite. I'm about done with swim jigs. I've not once found them to be better than something else...and I have been trying hard the past year to love them.

Topping this because....well because I like this thread. And because I recall it often. Lots of threads about line recently and not many mention noise differential. While braid noise effect on bass fishing is likely still very inconclusive, I think it would be foolish to assume it isn't a factor. Whether noise from guides, rubbing on wood or just going through the water, I'd guess braid is always going to be noisier. Is that a positive or a negative? I'd presume more negative than positive. I still use braid a quite a bit, but as I prepare to respool my workhorse bottom contact reel, I got to wondering about this.....again.

I've still got a spinning and that reel seat has been decent (with a toothpick or two). It is the 6'10"MF that I loved until I broke it, but the seat drove me a bit nuts.

I am not yet trying to understand....because I am pretty dismissive of most color discussions....but I seem to get a LOT more Maxscent Flatworm bites with the mango color, than with other, especially the black/gray. Even though the lakes I use it are full of shad that look (to me) more gray than orange.

Interesting. I was devastated when I broke my ETSM. But the reel seat was the one thing that drove me nuts. I shimmed reel feet with toothpicks. I had a builder do something ....not sure what....to secure the reel. I dealt with self-loosening seat lock nut. Drove me nuts. But I still loved that rod.

Crazy the way we all react differently. I barely itch from some mosquito bites, but many, especially from the really small skeeters, itch so bad I go temporarily insane. But the saving grace is that no mosquito bite itches beyond about 45 minutes. My wife gets bit by same type of mosquito and it still itches 3 days later....though rarely with the same intensity.

I think I understand 'bookmark'. I've done that before...(though I don't think I've ever gone to use one on my phone). But the custom stream part...uh...no clue

Ha! We have a Myers lemon tree that could compete. Bought it in 2020. It had three fruit first noticed around March...2021. The first of the three reached what I figure is 'adult lemon' size in April this year. In July, it appeared to fade slightly from dark green, so my wife decided to harvest the first lemon finally. Sooo looking forward to number 2!! Lol

I keep thinking I'm going to use one for a lure retriever somehow. But haven't gotten around to it. I've also wondered whether builders couldn't reuse guides or handles of broken premium rods.

I don't recall ever fishing and thinking "I'd rather be doing something else"....bites or no bites

I can lose focus. Not unusual to whiff on first bite in a couple hours. I can find myself going through the motions of casting and retrieving without enough attention to placement, presentation and detection...especially if it has been slow.
