Great post. I haven't verified it, but a crime statistics article I saw said, "In 2016, five police districts overseeing only 8 percent of Chicago’s population recorded around 32 percent of its murders." That's a lot to consider. The city data says homicides. The state numbers do not. Do those state numbers include suicides and accidents? If so, fine. But best not to make a soapbox out of questionable materials.

I honestly don't recall. Hadn't had it long...high sticking a snag, maybe? But it came as a bit of a shock, so probably nothing too stupid. AG asked no questions, sent Premier immediately, and discontinued the Registas....so wouldn't surprise me if they felt they had issue in design or production.

+1....But, I snapped my Regista. Abu sent a 7M Premier as replacement. It is a good jerkbait rod. Pretty stiff tip, so casting lures at lower end of recommended spread is frustrating.

Never tried it. Anyone have link to underwater video of trig and Free rig side by side (same bait, same weight)? ....I think I need a pool

COVID and snowstorms wiped out last couple years, but Richmond VA fishing expo is usually decent. They bring in the BPS tank and always have a few bass pros over the weekend. I've had chance to talk with Davy Hite, Jacob Powroznik, John Crews....met Bobby Uhrig at a couple, along with Bizz Bait guy (sorry, I don't recall his name)...and others. Not a bad way to spend a January Sunday.

Husk it and throw on grill, high heat. Take off when some kernels blackened. Butter generously, salt lightly.

Couple weeks ago I was smoking a cigar while fishing from my dock. The tobacco wrapper came a little unraveled. I tore off about a one inch square piece and tossed it in the water. Four gizzard shad came out to examine it. After maybe 5 or 6 seconds, one grabbed it and tried to run. The other 3 immediately tore after the first and all started grabbing it. It became so much more desirable when another fish had it.

Try Dave's Tournament Tackle. I use other spinnerbait brands, too, but for gold on gold, I always have some of these on hand....if my wife hasn't taken them all. This is, by far, her favorite spinnerbait. And we're a long ways from Florida

I couldn't get bit on Fat Ikas for the longest time. Once live Ikas were introduced to the waters I fish, it was a whole new ball game.

Practice. It turns out to be easier than it seems at first. Boat control can be the hardest part. Any drift increases the difficulty rating.

The rules aren't complex enough yet. I choose based on even different assumptions. If I think best shot at bite is on the fall, usually in cover, I may go with Pit Boss or Sweet Beaver. If I expect bites at rest, dragging, or swimming, I will use Rage Bug. I admit that my decisions aren't really based on any real knowledge of bass behavior. I personally dislike the way Pit Boss looks (to me) sitting on the bottom, or swimming horizontally.

Setting up will be the easy part. First you will have to navigate a lot of questions and decisions.... -budget? -GPS? -Side scan? -Garmin, HB, Lowrance? -Minimum screen size? -Transducer through hull or external arm? I used simple 4 and 5 inch screen downscan for a few years and it was ok. GPS became a 'must have' for me and I upgraded and wouldn't be without it in the future. Through-hull transducer is what I will recommend unless you want sidescan.

I'd probably trailer around to Duke's Creek for the next few weeks.

Pretty cool. I see one on ebay from 1800s for $2500, and another on Amazon made in China for $70. Probably somewhere in between. Where is the antique roadshow this week?

Maybe it's not the fish. Maybe it is me. I put a dropshot down, and I am committed to a good 30-60 seconds without sudden movement. I really struggle to fish as slow with a senko or jig. Once the senko makes it to the bottom, I'm hopping it out pretty quickly usually.

Couple years ago I saw I guy pitching a drop shot under docks. I'd never considered it before, but I have had some success from time to time. I need to have good clearance, and fairly calm conditions to slow way down, but I've found some decent fish that ignored senkos and jigs. Not sure why....wish I knew

Got one years ago. Looks cool in the water. I have tossed it a few times... But I have never heard of anyone actually catching a fish with one.

I don't recall coming across any hooks I could not sharpen. Some trebles can be a challenge, though
