  1. Let's do it!
  2. Scrutch, Rhino -- I'll be out there Sun - Weds (boatless) and I've only got a boater for Tues. Would love to share a boat with either of you guys on Sun, Mon or Weds if you've got any of those open.
  3. I'll also do my part
  4. Peterson has already turned down bigger money from bigger programs. If memory serves, I think he has a child with a medical condition, and they're pleased with the care they get in Boise. It's not a money thing for him. Leach probably would have been a good fit just from the offense he runs. Then again, replacing one scumbag coach with another "questionable" one is likely not the right way to go. I can't think of any other real big names who are on the market, or in a smaller job waiting for an upgrade. Given the situation of Petrino's exit, it wouldn't surprise me to see the Hogs hire a mid-major coach.
  5. Keep em. Someone's gotta represent.
  6. Nope, I'm a Giants fan since I grew up in NJ. I live in ATL now but really couldn't care less about the Falcons. Being in ATL, I just had a front-row seat to the pure ridiculousness of Petrino's classless exit.
  7. This guy is a scumbag with a history of poor behavior. He interviewed with Auburn while he was still coaching at Louisville -- mind you, Auburn still had a coach at the time. He left the Atlanta Falcons under the cover of night without even talking to his players. Not really sure why Arkansas thought they were getting an upstanding citizen for their coach. With that said, I figured he'd get the business as usual SEC response, which would have suspended him for games against Brookfield Community College & Hair Care Center, and Southwest Central Missouri Institute of Technology. I was pleasantly surprised to see him get canned. Couldn't have happened to a classier guy!
  8. Don't use fluoro for an all-around rod, as it's not a good choice for topwater baits. I agree with the comment above to use braid + leader
  9. Can't wait to see the video of you winching out a 12+!
  10. It's getting closer... I'm trying to work out my schedule to get out there Sat night instead of Sunday afternoon. Hopefully the dominoes will fall into place.
  11. I'd feel OK about using spinning tackle for small baits 1/4 oz or less and/or little cover. But for something like a frog where you have some plastic to collapse to drive the hook home, I'd stick with casting.
  12. Guntersville experts -- anyone care to take a stab at the "must have" tackle us non-locals should be sure to have with us for the road trip? I'll probably order a few odds n' ends from Tackle Warehouse so I was just wondering if there was anything specific I should add. With the way the fish are acting here in ATL, it seems it's fishing 4-6 weeks ahead of the calendar so I'm not sure if that's also the case on the Big G or not.
  13. Zillion 7'MH/F paired with Zillion reel. Heaven.
  14. One noteable Daiwa exception -- the Advantage TDA153HSTA. Great reel at a reasonable price. The only knock is that it's a bit bigger of a reel.
  15. Absolutely tragic. Never met the guy, but always had a feeling that I would -- I guess I won't get the chance now. RIP Jose.
  16. Start simple... Get a few 1/4 oz and 3/8 jigs in 2-3 colors. Black/blue, greens, browns are always good choices. Arkie head is a very versatile design. Like other fishing lures, jigs are easy to over-complicate with colors, sizes, styles, etc. Start with the basics, get some experience and confidence, and expand the arsenal from there.
  17. That's one shiny new toy!
  18. We still on to fish Tues? I have a SWEET new GT hat for you!
  19. Hehe...I went on the cheap and got this one: http://www.stickitanchorpins.com/ Will hopefully install it in the coming days.
  20. The T-rigs and jigs will be more than fine on that rod. While I've fished 4 power Dobyns rods for frogs/toads in grass, I think many will recommend a stouter rod for that purpose.
  21. I don't throw spinnerbaits and cranks on the same stick so I use a Dobyns graphite 705CB for shallow and med cranks. I hear lots of folks that like the 705 Glass for exactly what you mentioned, but I don't have any experience with the glass model.
  22. G-ville experts -- any guesses as to what we can expect regarding how thick/tall the grass will be, as well as "normal" water clarity at the time of the road trip? Doing a bit of an inventory now and I wanted to make sure my line selection will be appropriate.
