  1. Wow, that's some shady crap that they're pulling! But better to find out now rather than the first BR guy pulling up to a parking lot full of heavy equipment and cinder blocks. I'm inching closer making this trip happen for me this year.
  2. Boss approved a few days off for me that week! Now to see if I can shift a few other things to make this trip happen for me.
  3. You could argue several locations. Off the top of my head, I can think Guntersville, somewhere in FL, and Lake Fork or somewhere else in TX
  4. The Giants win this one and Peyton becomes known as "Eli's big brother" WIth that said -- Go Big Blue!
  5. There was a long, complex formula that went into my name. But mostly it's because my name is Chris and I went to Georgia Tech.
  6. Look up Bassboy1 on Tinboats. He build my boat and it's freakin' sweet.
  7. I love P-Line CX for my topwater and jerkbait fishing. It's extremely smooth and easy to manage. Note that it is NOT fluorocarbon, rather it's copolymer Packard -- you sure you didn't have CXX? To me, that's the one that's ridiculously hard to manage.
  8. Yup! Without a doubt, the most fun I've had with a rod and reel (so far ). Here's a little more of that fish, which I still watch at least once a week. Hehe...
  9. Bonnet-head shark, amberjack
  10. Who do you think should have provided you with this info?
  11. "College" does share some of the blame. Yes, costs are up astronomically and there are some true diploma factories out there, but as few above have mentioned, student choices need to be part of the blame equation. Seems to me that many folks are choosing the path of least resistance -- they pick their school, find some ridiculous major that interests them but with few job prospects, and then complain that they're a victim when they cannot find a job with decent pay. Most students start thinking about college early during their high school careers, but all they think about is where they want to go, and what majors interest them. Very few, if any, look at the career prospects and average salaries for those that graduate with a certain degree from a certain school. Then they graduate and say "what do you mean there are no jobs for me and my leisure studies degree"? If they had taken the time to put together a plan to help them understand how long it would take to pay off student loans at X/Y/Z salary levels after graduation, different choices may have been made. I have a family member like this. Has undergraduate and graduate degrees in musical performance from some prestigious (read "expensive") schools, accumulated a mountain of debt, and is now working multiple hourly jobs to chip away at that amount. Following your dream is great, but be prepared with Plan B in the event your dream doesn't pan out. College is just like any other large investment. Do your own research and analysis to determine what makes sense for you. Don't go into it blind, expect to be hand-fed all the needed info and complain when it doesn't work out as you planned. End rant.
  12. I had no confidence in my jig fishing until I started fishing them with my Daiwa Zillion rods. I started with the 6'9" MH x-fast, but added a 7' MH fast last spring -- holy crud, I love this thing. I'd HIGHLY recommend giving these a look. I also have a few Dobyns, including the 704C and DX the744. To me, the Daiwa is a stiffer, faster rod, but this is what I prefer for jigs. If you prefer a bit softer action, the Dobyns may be a better bet.
  13. Yes, it's effective. No, it doesn't need to look like crap. If you do it, I'd recommend using some anti-fatigue foam under the carpet to make it more comfortable to stand on for long periods of time.
  14. It's a pity it's taken this long for Calvin Johnson to have the opportunity to play with a QB who could get him the ball. But it's certainly nice to see now.
  15. I've already got that exact Super Spook Jr/feather combo in my box My plan is to outfit just about all my LC Pointers with feathered trebles.
  16. In what situations and for what baits do you use feathered trebles? Any baits or circumstances when you just will not use them?
  17. Pete -- there's plenty of room in my boat if you want to join me following Randall. It seems that it's usually when I'm about 30 yards away that he sticks a giant.
  18. You're not gonna find any smallmouth anywhere near Stone Mtn.
  19. I used to keep mine in a big-**** duffel bag that I'd just throw in my boat. Then I realized that I only used 20% of what was in there so now I only carry one Plano FTO Elite Speedbag 4807
