  1. But you are the fish whisperer!!!! Got any good ones tied up for Thursday night?
  2. Ding ding ding. We have a winner! Lol
  3. That's way to much work dude... Just keep them in their original pack.
  4. Get a compression test and if you don't know anything about boats take someone who does with you. You can get aluminum boats for that easy and mid 80's model glass boats. If you go glass, look at champion boats in that year range. Probably the best boat made then IMO
  5. Yup, keep them in original pack. Only problem you will have after that is the color fading before the bait needs replaced!!!! Crazy how long these last!
  6. Adjust your linkage. Should be fairly simple with some investigation of the components. It will make a grinding spinning noise if it's sitting right at the edge of a gear. Picture a manual transmission on a truck/car. Take the cowl off the motor, shift into forward and reverse to find the linkage on the motor. Once you have found it, identify the "stopper". There should be an adjustment nut of some sort there. Shift the motor into forward gear ON THE MOTOR, NOT WITH THE CONTROL ONE BY THE WHEEL and tighten the "stopper" up to that point. Then shift the motor into reverse, again, use the one on the motor, not the control shifter. Make sure it goes all the way. Put the cowl back on, go fish and remember your dad. Hope this helps.
  7. Difference in fish taste and a fishy taste. Fish taste is delicious to me, fishy taste has a hint of skank water/moss/God only knows what else.
  8. prepare yourself for the addiction
  9. I don't know how people can eat any fish with skin still on it. There is nothing nastier on this planet than when you go to break a catfish fillet open and see one side still has grey slimy skin on it. Freaking gross!
  10. Totally agree. I've eaten bass. Usually the under slot ones from a lake I use to live by. But it's super clear water, and it was always ones I picked up while crappie fishing in cold water. It's all about how you clean and prepare the meat before cooking, but no way in heck does bass stand up to crappie, walleye or wiper! Dang... now I'm hungry.
  11. Wow! Great info! Thanks a ton. I'll be sending a PM
  12. I have no clue how they can distinguish between being mad, and any typical reaction strike using that technique. I remember when the "bleeding" skirts were really big (maybe they still are, not sure). I think that was the only reason for the red though. And as you said, I can see a red or dark red for imitating a crawfish.
  13. If you are going with the technical term of hard bait it's a toss up between suspending jerk-bait and lipless. If you are going with how I categorize them (I go by consumable time line. I.E, Can use a jig, bladed jig, spinner just as long as you can a crank for the most part. Sure you have to replace skirts every now and then, I only use wire tied, but I bet you replace hooks on those cranks too.) then I say bladed jig.
  14. The only time I've done it was on a 40hp. Took the cowl off the linkage was hooked right up to the shifting mechanism. Basically had all-thread there with nuts that could adjust it one way or the other. No clue if that is what yours looks like or not.
  15. Second on the trolling motor. Nobody ever said, "Man, I wish I would have bought as smaller trolling motor". It depends on your individual taste. Enough storage to fit the kitchen sink and more square footage of fishing deck than your living room comes to mind . In all seriousness, Ranger, Nitro or Bass-cat will serve you well, so from there it's just what model and how much coin your have to throw at one. Good luck on the search!
  16. Lol, Can't be any worse than dealing with the people on Coligny Plaza in HH. One of the few times I just give my wife my credit card and tell her to go for it.
  17. Just like blue said, sometimes when forcing myself to learn a new technique I'll just take that one rod and give it all I got.
  18. I would have peed in my pants and took off. Probably would look into moving too. Lol. I can't stand those things. I've tried and tried, but it's almost like muscle memory for me to haul butt! Lol.
  19. I'll definetly target some reds too. I plan on fishing most every morning and evening there. I'm not sure if you can fish the golf course ponds or not, but I'm sure gonna ask. On the last comment, that a good thing or bad thing?
  20. Thanks for the info. Will M/H spinning gear do the trick for redfish? What type of line would be best? There are several ponds on the golf coarse we are staying on, I would think they would be freshwater, but I may be wrong. Don't look like they connect to the lagoon system at all. My wife's family own a house on the beach in HH. They basically do a big family vacation there every year. With us having 2 little kids and me not wanting to constantly be around the extended family we rented our own house for the vacation... conveniently located a few miles from them.
  21. Bass, redfish, anything really.
  22. It's been 23 days since I've last fished. Your post gives me strength! Going out Thursday!!!!!! Nice catches!
