  1. I have a 2010 soft top 2 door. I found a 28"×2"×1.5" piece of plastic at work and just pop it between the sound bar and the bar for the soft top. I use the foam blocks to put my kayak on. It's a sit on top that weighs 50 pounds.
  2. I agree with Catt. Give the fish a second or two before setting the hook. My best day fishing a popper I landed 8 fish and had around 12 blow ups that morning.
  3. Don't rule out a topwater bait. I caught 9 smallies the other day casting a popper really close to the bank. I mean at times it was inches away from the bank.
  4. They are a bit expensive but I lucked out and the online seller sent me the wrong color. They gave me a 50% refund of the lure, so that takes the sting of bouncing it off some rocks away. I just want to fix it if possible. I still caught 9 smallies with it laying on its side and not popping right. There must be something to the jdm/megabass mojo.
  5. I set the the the hook on a fish this morning and my popmax flew out of the water like a rocket and hit a rock head on. Now my it lays on its side just slightly. Could I get away with wrapping a small piece of solder on the front hook to make it sit upright. Or maybe a suspend strip or dot? The lure did get a decent knick on the top of the cupped mouth next to the line tie and the line tie got flattened down a bit too.
  6. They replaced my whopper plopper when it broke in half. I sent them a picture of what was left and they sent me a new one.
  7. Happened to me a fishing with my dad when I was about 12 years old. I finished the trip without socks that day. Dug a hole and buried those nasty things. Lol?
  8. Thank you for posting about this line. I've had it an my Amazon cart for a few weeks now. I'm going to get the 8lb test also for my spinning gear.
  9. Do you drive a jeep wrangler? I have a wrangler and can get 7' rods in it no problem. It does make it a pita to shift but I deal with it.
  10. I'm roughly the same weight as you are and paddle a kayak with the same specs. I try to keep it to a minimum of 20 lbs of gear and I don't take long trips either.
  11. I use an fg knot for my braid to leader knot. Salt life has a good video on how to tie it.
  12. Thanks I'm looking for a jig and worm rod and this is my top choice of rods.
  13. I driver over the mad daily on my way to work and it's pretty high in the dayton area so you might want to give it a few days for the water level to drop a bit. I definitely wouldn't try wading it right now.
  14. I think from Springfield to Urbana is your best shot for trout in the mad river. I haven't fished it but read reports on local forums about it. Powerbait trout dough works pretty good from what I hear.
  15. I'm in the market for a new casting rod. I have narrowed my search to the hmg or the Veritas. I'm looking at medium heavy fast action since it will be for t-rigs and wobble head jigs mainly. I would like some feedback on these models cause there are mixed reviews on both models of rods. The hmg is the top of my price range too.
  16. I got a lews laser pro speed spool and a cabelas tackle bag.
  17. I had good luck with the bone colored 90 whopper plopper this year. My first outing with it I caught 8 smallies in less than 2 hours, two of them being a little over 16". I caught a few spots with it this year also. I think it liveshould up to the hype behind it. I won't buy the double plopper, that thing looks ridiculous to me.
  18. Looks like a drop shot lure to me maybe something to put on a shakeyhead. I dig through that bin at my local dsg and it has a bunch of off color stick worms and brush hog style baits. I grab a pack or two when I see something I like.
  19. I'm looking at the giant dog and xpod Jr. Other than the pivoting jaw is the xpod any better of a walking bait than the giant dog? I have a gift card coming to me and I was thinking about grabbing one of each or 2 of the same in different patterns.
  20. The river I fish is pretty clear but it is stained and silty in spots. I've noticed that any smallie over 14 inches is pretty dark.
  21. Caught the Sunday morning on a bps slim dog walking bait. Right at 19 inches, and only fish I caught that morning.
  22. A couple weeks ago while fishing somehow after a fish hit my whopper plopper it broke the plopper in half. Well I emailed River2sea bout it and no questions asked they sent me a replacement whopper plopper. That is just pure awesomeness. I will definitely be trying some more of their products now. I can't say enough how nice that was they replaced it.

Mine would be a rebel wee craw. A friend from mine at the time asked if I wanted to go wading a river with him and his brother and of course I said yes. He told me to go and pick up some rebel wee craws to use on the trip. Not long after we started our trip I cast out my craw and it was slammed by a fiesty rock bass that fought for whopping 3 seconds before it gave up.
  24. Get a thermometer to check the river temps. Do a google search for little miami river water temps also. The lmr,gmr and the mad river should all be in the mid to high 50's right now. Lure wise i would try some 4 inch fluke style baits. Rig them weightless and toss them into rome rapids and work them with some rod tip twitches into slack pools of water just out of the rapids. A 3-5 inch white grub on a 1/8 - 1/4oz jig head drug on the bottom is a killer bait choice now too. Lastly don't rule out too water either. Buzzbaits, spook type baits and poppers will be productive too.
