must have bass lures??
Great advice, I fish upstate NY and this guy pretty much summed up my tacklebox. Don't forget jigs though. Get some small finesse jigs and some 1/2 oz football head jigs for those long summer months when fishing brushpiles and such.

i'm going to give flourocarbon another shot
I like P-Line Flouroclear for a true flourocarbon for the same reasons RockvilleMDangler stated. But I recently tried the Yo-Zuri Hybrid and I love it so far.

Post a picture of your tacklebox!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mom bought a like shoekeeper thing that is like a bench and has a storage compartment inside of it. Well once we stopped using it lets just say I took control of it. I store my excess tackle in the storage compartment then I have a soft tackle bag I take either to the bank or to the boat. I try to keep it as light as possible so I only have 3 3700 boxes in it and my hook box and a scale, scissors, etc. I will try and get a pic up sometimes. I am very proud of the organization . Russ, up here what else is there to do during the winter than organize your fishing stuff??? ;D

the bass obsession...
I am around your age and can understand what you are saying. I am the type of person that when I get into something and I like it, I REALLY get into it. It becomes my passion to be better at whatever it is I may be doing. This applies to obtaining good grades in school as well because it is a goal of mine to have a good job and make good money. When I first started bass fishing I became hooked instantly, and I am sure that happened to almost everyone on this board as well or else they wouldn't be here. I can honestly say I have tried as hard as possible to improve my fishing skills and this also applies to basketball which I also have a passion for developing my game in that. I guess what I am trying to say is don't ever be ashamed to be dedicated to something you enjoy doing. Just continue to pursue pursue pursue. Who knows what bass fishing may lead you to? Don't think of it as an addiction but rather as what other posters have said, purely passion. You have a PASSION for bass fishing if you can't stop thinking about it and want to be out on the water all the time... and there is absolutly nothing wrong with that. I think all of us here at BassResource.com have this same feeling as you do, thats why we signed up for this forum.

FINALLY I GOT MY DREAM REEL
not to rub it in or anything muddy, but I have a president already and a supreme on the way ;D ;D Pflueger makes the best reels for the money, but shimano has the best reels if your looking to spend 200-500 bucks. This is something I will always say and you can't argue until you own one of the higher end pfluegers. Muddy Man I don't have the Trion but I have heard it is a great little reel and I hope you catch come PA lunkers on it!

new rod arrived yesterday
wow, thats a strange looking rod. Looks reaaaaallllyyy light though. Good luck!

new combo, this should be my best one
Just ordered my new combo 2 days ago... Pflueger Supreme w/ a 6'6'' MH Kistler Graphite Plus. This will be my first Kistler, and these rods are very reasonably priced. Heck I am 15 years old and it doesnt put that much of a dent in my pocket. This reel sounds amazing and I can't wait to test it out. It has 11 BB so it should be as smooth as butter and I hear the freespool on it is remarkable! So what do you all think, could I have gotten a better casting combo for 300 bucks?

Took a fishing trip in the mountains (pics)

Go-To
Lots of people go to baits are mine too > ;D Alright heres my top 6 that are rigged on well, all six of my combos, everytime I go out on the boat: 1. 5" senko in watermelon (Spinning) 2. Fat Ika (Spinning) 3. Rapala X-Rap (Casting) 4. Zoom Super Flukes (Spinning) 5. Terminator Finesse jig 1/8 oz. black blue (Casting) 6. 1/4 oz. Spot Remover with either a zoom trick worm or zoom finesse worm (Casting) If they don't hit any of these I will normally try something new for a little while, but then just call it a day. This is one of my biggest flaws :'(

FINALLY SOME DECENT WEATHER!! (PICS)
Finally got some decent fishing weather up here in New York so I took advantage. Second cast of the day brought this 2lb 10 oz. fish. I caught this one on a 1/8 oz. Terminator finesse jig black blue with matching trailer. Hopped it right on the bottom and within about 5 seconds felt a tap tap tap and then bam, fight was on. Now I am thinking this is going to be a surprisingly good day, but much to my despise the bite slowed down big time. About 2 hours after i caught my first one I switced to a little glass shad rap and got a little keeper. All in all it was a pretty good day and I had a lot of fun. Hopefully many more posts in the outings section are to follow

seasonal pond question
same here, I can't catch a d**n thing in ponds when the water gets cold, I have tried everything but it just is no where near as productive as during the spring and summer.
